Dale Earnhardt was a lot of things to a lot of people, nd that's probably why things with his name on them have endured as collectors' items for more than a decade following his death. That's probably why this 2000 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 Earnhardt Edition will remain special for years, ven after its siblings have been relegated to the scrap heap.Having been built in 2000, his car enjoys Dale Earnhardt's blessing, ot some badge job done after his death. It's black, f course, hich was The Intimidator's preferred color, nd the Z/28 is a great car to carry his name. Sure, e drove a Monte Carlo, ut if you wanted performance in 2000, he front-wheel-drive consumer-grade Monte Carlo just wouldn't cut it. So this Z/28 stands in and looks awesome with its bright red pinstripes, ood scoop, nd a few well-chosen badges highlighting why it's special. Of interest, here are a few signatures around the body, decal with his championship seasons listed, nd the requisite Chevrolet Bowtie emblems. The black paint is in great shape for being more than 15 years old, nd a proper cut and buff (mind the decals!) would really wake it up and make this car a show-stopper. And, f course, ou get all the Z/28 goodies including a ram air-style hood, ear spoiler, nd T-tops, nd the design has aged rather well. There are more upgrades inside, here you'll find the already very supportive black leather Z/28 seats reupholstered in a checkered flag pattern that seems very appropriate for an Earnhardt edition. There are, f course, ore signatures and logos on the headrests, ut otherwise it's pretty stock. Again, he care that this Z has received shows everywhere you look, rom the seats that show only very minor wear to the clean carpets that have been protected all their lives. Earnhardt Camaros came only one way: loaded. That means things like power windows and locks, /C, ruise control, nd power seats are all part of the deal. You'll also find a somewhat rare 6-speed manual which makes the Z/28 an absolute blast to drive and the T-tops add an open-air experience that totally transforms the car. There's also a good-sized storage area under the rear hatch, hich makes the Z a great road trip car, ay, or heading to a NASCAR event.Chevy's LS1 346 cubic inch V8 was standard equipment on the Z/28, nd while the factory tried to claim it was de-tuned from Corvette duty, rack numbers tell a different story. This Camaro is FAST! And despite behind insanely easy to modify with a long list of upgrades from the aftermarket, his one remains completely stock, uggesting careful ownership and no abuse. It's a tight fit, ith most of the engine under the cowl, ut given that the LS1 is virtually bulletproof, aintenance shouldn't be an issue. The 6-speed shifts easily and powers a set of 3.42 gears out back, nice combination of performance and easy cruising, specially with that ultra-deep overdrive. The exhaust has a nice growl from the original transverse muffler and the quad tips out back offer a cool look that matches the soundtrack. Chrome A-mold wheels look right on any F-body, nd these carry staggered 235/45/17 front and 275/40/17 rear BFGoodrich performance radials. You will probably never see another one of these and for Earnhardt fans, his is exactly the kind of memorabilia that builds value in the future. It's also a heck of a lot of fun to drive. Call today!
