This body style (as you know) is the most popular body style for this car and is a head turner in any condition (I get looks when it is on the trailer, ol). This car looks to have originally been an inline 6 cyl with a manual trans. Original paint color is Gold as was the interior.
The Good
The car is currently in a 2-part/sandable primer ready for final paint prep. All rust patches (no sorry this is not the numbers matching barn find that has never seen a little weather) and body panel replacement has been done. The floors and the trunk floor have all been replaced with new metal. The toe boards were repaired and in my opinion could use a little attention (couple more welds and some sealer). The car has a Heidts mustang II front suspension kit on it with the dropped spindles, M disc brakes and is sitting pretty. The front clip is used, y goal was to powder coat it again and replace the bushings. The rear of the car is equipped with a brand new TCI 4link set up with adjustable coil over shocks. The kit includes the transmission loop, ross member and sub-frame connectors. The 4 link is attached to a narrowed GM 12 bolt rear end. The rear end needs a new differential unit, do have a set of Strange 3.73 gears that will be included, nd there are Moser axles currently installed. Along with the narrowed rear-end, he inner rear wheel tubs have been relocated out to the rear frame rails to allow a more modern 10+ inch wide wheel. The original core support was replaced (the new one is in the car but not completely bolted together). The car will come with front inner fender panels (need to be properly fitted) as well as a steel 2-inch cowl hood. I have all of the trim I received with the car though some of it needs to be worked a little. The car is equipped with a 5.3 LS truck motor and 4L60E transmission. Motor and trans are a junkyard find 150,000 unverified miles which I bought to get the car going with plans on building a performance motor.
The Bad
The main concern I had before starting the build was the roof looks like it was replaced at some point. After having it looked over by a few people (including the body man that replaced the original quarters with new Full Quarters) we continued with all necessary panel replacement. The passenger side front fender toward the windshield in the inside next to the hood is a couple millimeters off. I had a repair done and it does not line up perfectly. This can be off-set with a little work on adjusting the hood and fender, ut to be perfect may need further attention or replacement. All brake and fuel lines have been removed as I was going to replace with brand new lines and fittings. The electrical has all been removed; the car will come with a new 18 circuit aftermarket wiring harness.
The Ugly
The fabricator that widened the rear wheel tubs did not use the method I had planned and left a recessed channel between the two original pieces. This was not a big deal to me as I planned on dressing up the trunk, ikely with a nice carpet kit. The guy that completed the body work laid some unattractive welds in the windshield channel, ut of course these will not be seen once the windshield is installed.
Its been a few years since the car was disassembled but this should be accurate
