Up for bid is my mild custom 1948 Chevy pickup. I have owned this truck for over 18 years. but it is time to let it go. This is a beautiful truck that I drive almost daily. I have made many subtle custom body modifications. The hood has been shaved of its original front and side emblems and a stainless bull nose strip continues the line of the windshield divider. The door handles and locks have been shaved and replaced with remote controlled solenoids. A custom rolled pan cleans up the front end look. The original fuel filler has been replaced with a flush fuel door. The headlights. taillights. license plate and power antennae have all been frenched into the bodywork. The rivets that hold the brackets to the rear fenders have been eliminated and welded in. The entire bed is a hand-made work of art by Hank’s Welding that features no stake pockets. a fully integrated rear pan with LED 1948 Chevy car taillights. and a blanked tailgate that is hung with hidden cables so there aren’t chains banging against the bed and it opens with a nifty button release. The bed floor is made from Trex decking. which matches the interior color of the truck and does not require yearly removal. sanding and refinishing. The slats are retained by stainless steel strips with hidden fasteners. and there are six snap-in retaining eyes for securing loads. Except for the front pan. the whole body is metal and covered in a stunning Matador Red Mica paint that shows traces of candy and metallic in the sunlight. All the glass and retaining rubber are new. as are the chrome door window frames. The original frame has a GenII Camaro sub-frame installed. with disc brakes and power steering. The rear end is a ten-bolt Chevelle with trailing arms and Ride Tech adjustable shocks. All four corners are bagged as part of a Ride Tech E-Pro system. Since it seems like 90% of all street rods have a 350 Chevy under the hood I wanted something a bit different that would be a dependable driver. not a drag racer. so I installed a rebuilt 350 Buick. The Buick produces more torque than a Chevy 350. is 100 pounds lighter. and the distributor is in the front where it is easy to reach. The engine is stock except for a mild TA Performance cam. a TA aluminum intake with a Holley 670 Street Avenger carb. and a Pertronix module to replace the points. It runs great. The transmission is a rebuilt Turbo Hydro 350. The interior features a super comfortable Tea’s Design bench seat in grey and light silver naughahyde. Custom door panels were made to match. and there is a full grey carpet. The wild dashboard has been liberally sprayed with Roth Metalflake Surfite Silver to match the Moon wheel. with just a bit of Roth’s Speedball thrown in for fun. Gauges are all by Classic Instruments. and tunes are supplied by an Alpine CD/MP3 stereo with CD player and front auxiliary and USB inputs for your iPod or mp3 player. Power is supplied by a 400 watt amplifier and six speakers. The steering column is a GM tilt. and the original window cranks now operate the power windows. The controls for the Air Ride suspension are hidden behind the original ashtray door in the dash. The entire truck has been rewired with a Painless Wiring kit. Wheels are chrome-reversed. 15 X 8’s in back and 15 X 7’s in front. with bullet caps. wrapped by beautiful Diamondback radial wide whites. As a bonus for California buyers. the license is paid through February of 2016. If you are looking for a perfect. trailered-to-the-fairgrounds $100. 00 show truck. this is not it. This truck gets driven and used as a truck should be nearly every day. It has some imperfections which I have tried to show in the photographs. There are some small nicks in the paint that I try to keep touched up. The chrome on the grill and the mirrors is starting to show a bit of wear. There are some bubbles starting to appear around the body seam on the cab. The engine compartment and undercarriage are not meticulously detailed. If. however. you are looking for a really nice driver that runs great. can be driven anywhere. can be enjoyed and used every day. gets a lot of attention and compliments. and will stand out at local cruises and car shows. this could be your truck. Needless to say. this is a 66 year-old truck that has been heavily modified. It comes with no warrantee. Shipping. if needed. is the sole responsibility of the buyer. although I will assist in way I can. I require a deposit of $2. 00 by either certified funds or Paypal within 72 hours of the close of the auction. Full and final payment must be made within one week of end of auction before vehicle will be shipped or picked up. Do not hesitate to ask questions. or if you are in the Bay Area. come by to take a look in person.
