1969 Chevrolet Impala 396 "Custom Coupe"
396 Cubic Inch - Automatic Turbo Hydra-matic
Frame Off Restoration 6(+) Years Ago -3rd Owner
73,717 Miles -with only 12,000 on the Restoration
Take a close look at this "Big Block" American Cruiserfrom the late '60's! This Impala Custom Coupe is "one of a kind" with the factory order "Custom Coupe" body style (special "squared off" rear window roof lines, concave back window glass and the artsy cut in the trunk lines make it different than the "Sport Coupe") combined with the concealed headlamps, 2" drop spindle kit and beefy 15" staggered BF Goodrich tires on factory style Rally wheels. It has the overall appearance of being "original", however, you can tell it's special at first sight.
Our seller was told when he bought the car about six years ago (from the second owner who did all of the restoration work), that it was purchased by the original owner in Nebraska and sold by her sister when she passed away (we have the canceled original Title from Nebraska). The Original Protect-O-Plate with her name on it supports the "paper trail" and the original owners manual with the original packet from the glove box is also still with the car.
The repaint is correct to the original color of "Azure" Turquoise (Blue) and the interior is matching code cloth (the "Reveille Impala Cloth" is really cool (literally!) and is a nice switch from the more common vinyl interior). Even the Black Vinyl Top was replaced during the restoration... It really stands tall! The previous ownerreally did a nice job with the restoration, leaving a pretty much "stock" appearance. For driving enjoyment, the performance enhancements, including the added 4bbl to the "396", brought the horsepower increase to about 325. The valves have been hardened, so unleaded premium fuel is perfect. The dual exhaust includes the Mufflers and Resonators. The 2" Dropped Spindle kitgives it a more aggressive "wedge" stance combined with the staggered upsized BF Goodrich TA's. The power brakes have been upgraded to Power Disc Brakes at the front wheels.
Our seller shares the following minor repairs that the new owner could take on if desired: The Concealed Headlamps have the optional "washer system" that is not "washing"; the cigarette lighter is missing; the power window on the passenger side works only from the driver's side master switch. The steering wheel plastic has cracked in several areas.
Beyond what is mentioned above, this "Custom Coupe" is really well optioned: Power Steering Brakes and Windows, tilt steering column, Air Conditioning (needs old freon), Tinted Glass, Factory AM radio, Vinyl Top, and the rare Caprice option of the Concealed Headlamps (and yes, they work!) If you are looking for a "turn the key and have fun" BIG American Classic... Check it out! You won't see one exactly like it anywhere.
You can be proud to drive this one anywhere and enjoy the weekend cruise events and car shows. It's nice to know that your family or friends can join you... there's enough room!
A picture album of the restoration process will come with the sale.
