THIS ONE IS THE REAL DEAL - Worth the short read - One in a million - This car started out special and ended up extraordinary!
This 1956 Chevrolet two-door post 210 was born in the South and never exposed to snow and salt. The sheet metal is straight as a razor – original GM steel – no patch panel, period! This Classic Chevy was owned for more than 20 years by one man who sold it in its factory original condition to a home town mutual friend Bob Young of Memphis TN.
Bob and friends started with an extensive and very detailed build plan. The precise plans were brought to life by an extremely talented professional builder, Nu Nu Lowery, of Chattanooga TN. In his shop the car went through the more than a year-long metamorphosis from the humble stock little Chevy to a truly one of a kind custom classic.
The original drive train, 265 V8 and three on the column gave way to the new from GM Corvette LS6 and six-speed manual shift transmission with a 411 positraction rear end putting the power to the pavement. The original chassis was discarded as the drive train was planted into its new home - a Paul Newman Creations Corvette Chassis with large 13-inch rotors to stop the beast. The stainless steel gas tank keeps the petro clean and fresh for the power plant. When driving you truly feel like you are on rails. The Corvette rack and pinion steering coupled with the P235/55 R17tires on front and the P265/55 R17 tires on the rear add to the maximum control feel of the ride. The fact that this is a post car enhances the overall solid feel, comfort and quieter noise level.
The original interior was replaced with an all leather interior. You might ask “what is so special about that?” The car’s colors are a very unique combination of black and a custom mix very close to the stock GM croquis yellow. Red cars are great but it took Bob’s vision to take this car to the next level through choice of color. So what is so special about the leather interior? First, it is designed to match the motif and nature of the car (superior quality but not over done) and second, it is the exact same color combination as the exterior which adds a “wow” factor seldom matched. That is right! It is not Mercedes taupe or beige. Oh, by the way the vintage air is so cold, it blows snowballs at the passengers and those leather seats. The gauges are not just for looks they all work properly including the tac and gas gauge.
A few more details…….. The Project Album (which goes with the car) has photographs illustrating the total dismantled project. Every item of the build was addressed including the professional metal preparation (no collision repairs ever) before painting. All new chrome (yes everything)! Of course all the stainless was mirror polished. All the glass is new and tinted (a little easier on the eyes). Under the hood there is not a chromed street rod look. The LS power plant gives it more of a pristine GM factory experimental feel.
Final thought……… You have the option of entering this beauty in car shows and taking home the top trophies and/or it is so solid and reliable you can drive it like you stole it, show it off and enjoy it forever!
