Description

Did you ever get in your pickup and say to yourself, "You know, this is a nice truck, but what it really needs is about twice as much horsepower." Well, today is your lucky day, because this incredible 2008 Chevrolet Silverado Z/71 pickup is the answer. With a turbocharged 6.2 liter V8 cranking out more than 600 horsepower, a built transmission, and an upgraded suspension to plant it, and a sinister look, this is the truck that has even Corvettes running for cover. At a glance, this truck looks tough. Not just the lowered stance and blacked-out wheels, but something else that suggests there's more going on. That's factory paint and it looks fantastic in every way, with a great shine that gets noticed but doesn't attract attention, if you know what I mean. There are no outrageous body mods save for a cleverly ventilated front bumper that feeds cool air to the intercooler, but with the blackout treatment up front most folks won't even notice. Obviously, this truck has always been a toy, not a workhorse, so the flanks aren't scuffed and it glows with the look of a vehicle that's spent every night in a garage. The regular cab/short bed configuration seems to be disappearing in today's market, but it was strategically chosen here because it's the lightest possible package, and that's good for performance. But the bed is still set up to work, including a drop-in bedliner and a clever rail system that will let you haul just about anything. This is a heck of a fast truck, but it still works as a truck.Likewise, the interior is pretty stock, including the comfortable bucket seats and a ton of luxury features. GM did a great job with the Silverado redesign, and if you haven't driven a modern pickup, you're going to be surprised by how plush they really are. This one is very nicely preserved and well-maintained, with goodies like A/C, power windows, locks, mirrors, and seats, a tilt steering column with a beautiful leather-wrapped wheel, and cruise control. It all works as you'd expect. The original gauges look fantastic, lighting up with an electroluminescent glow when you turn the key, and they're joined by a set of Auto Meter dials neatly integrated into the A-pillar, which keep an eye on the turbocharged part of the equation. The factory AM/FM/iPod/satellite radio sounds great, and if you keep your foot out of the throttle, this truck will feel like any other. But when you stab the loud pedal, you'd better make sure it's aimed where you want to go, because when the turbo comes online, this truck launches like a jet on the deck of an aircraft carrier. The 6.2 liter engine is a GM crate motor that's been cammed, fitted with ported heads, and force-fed pressurized air from a 67mm turbocharger mounted downstream. They added alcohol injection that kicks in at full throttle and an intercooler to keep detonation under control, and the result is right around 600 horsepower at the wheels. Yeah, that's big power. The heavy-duty automatic transmission has been beefed up with a shift kit and a heavy-duty torque converter and with 4.10 gears on an Auburn Posi, it launches as hard as any pickup has a right to. The suspension has been upgraded to cope with the added power, including a set of drop spindles and upgraded shocks, so it has just the right stance. The turbo kills most of the engine noise, but there's still a beautifully made stainless exhaust system with a big muffler, so this truck is quite stealthy on the road. Even the stock wheels were retained, although they were powdercoated satin black and fitted with Michelin radials to handle the speed.Fully documented with receipts, this 1-owner truck is spectacular in every way. Until you experience the eyeball-flattening torque of a turbocharged machine like this, you probably just don't get it. Trust us, it's even faster than you think. Call today!
