Cars like this 1973 Corvette convertible with its original paint and interior. two tops. and just 72. 01 original miles are now cherished heirlooms. Add in all the other awesome stuff that Corvettes offer as standard equipment. and this car becomes a very smart choice in a sea of high-priced fiberglass. Shockingly enough. that's factory-applied code 947 Elkhart Green on the curvy fiberglass shape of this Corvette. Nicely maintained over the years. it's been recently treated to a professional buff so the shine is still quite good and the car looks years younger than it should. As with most survivors. the fit of the bodywork is just the way the factory did it. the detailing can serve as a road map for future restorers. and the overall feel is of a solid. complete car that has always been loved. There are. of course. a few signs of use from forty years of fun. but there's just no question that this car lives the good life. A factory luggage rack complements the bright chrome rear bumpers. all of which are in very good condition. as are the emblems and other shiny trim. And the best thing about this car is that it ideally demonstrates the Corvette restorer's ideal of "imperfectly perfect" finish. Cool!The black interior is also amazingly well preserved. The seats have seen the fun of more than 72. 00 miles of driving. but there's no sign of excessive wear or split seams. and even the foam underneath is reasonably firm. Nice carpets and door panels offer more evidence that this car didn't sit outside unless it was absolutely necessary. and everything works except the clock. something of a rarity on any old car. The gauges still show bright white-on-black markings with vivid orange pointers and the original radio has been supplanted by a later Pioneer AM/FM/cassette head unit. Of note. this car also carries factory A/C. now converted to R134a refrigerant so it's reliable and easy to service in the future. The black convertible top remains in above-average condition and seals up well. and there's also a color-matched factory hardtop that's just as nice as the rest of the car. The 350 cubic inch L48 provides entertaining performance that's worthy of the Corvette name. It's this car's original. numbers-matching engine and it runs great. With a twin-snorkel air cleaner. the 190 horsepower V8 has a high performance look and Chevy Orange paint brightens up the engine bay. Lots of upgrades in 1973 made the Corvette a lot more civilized. but there's still a great V8 bark from the dual exhaust system and the TH400 3-speed automatic snaps through the gears without hesitating. The underside of the car is quite original. but you can see that it's led a good life even though it's not detailed for show. It starts easily and powers down the road with the kind of effortless ease that only a V8 can deliver and as you'd expect. handling is agile and braking is strong. Factory Rally wheels provide a classic look and they carry 225/70/15 BFGoodrich T/A radials all around. With a known ownership history and some good documents behind it. this is a Corvette with a pedigree that doesn't cost a fortune.
