Up for bid is my 2006 Chevy Trailblazer LS
I bought thisvehicle from Genesis Auto in Sacramento, California (now closed) in May 2007. It had been rebuilt by Genesis Auto after having been in an accident, and it was issued a SALVAGED TITLE when I registered it. I couldn't even tell that it had ever been in any type of accident, they had rebuilt it THAT WELL. It was my second vehicle until last year, I drove it primarily in the winter, because it has 4WD and we get a decent amount of winter snowfall in our mountain community. I also used it to tow a small utility trailer when my family and I went on trips out oftown.
Here's the story: Early last year, the "Service Engine" light came on. I didn't know why at the time, because it was seemingly running without problems. I used an OBDII scanner and the result was "Intermittent Misfire onCylinder #1". I changed the spark plugs and spark plug wires and that seemed to solve the problem for a few weeks, but the light came back on again with the same error code. I took the truck in for its bi-annual smog test, but couldn't get it tested with the engine error code. I then took the Trailblazer to my mechanic, and he determined that there was a cracked head gasket that was leaking coolant intocylinder #1 causing the plug to foul out. Basically, it has a blown head gasket. I drove it home and parked it. A few weeks later, I was idling the engine to keep the battery fresh, and my tool box slipped off the top of the engine and hit the fan, destroying the fan. I turned the engine off and didn't make any other attempts at repair. Last week I tried to start the engine, but it will not start. It cranks just fine, but won't fire.Thetransmission was fully rebuilt at 75,000 miles after the clutches between 1st & 2nd gearfailed, so the transmission hasonly 29,000 miles since full rebuild. You'll have to pull the engine and replace the head gasket, but if you can do this jobyourself, you'll have a fantastic vehicle for many years. For the most part, I maintained thisvehicle well by doing standard scheduled maintenance and regular oil changes, I didn't drive it "hard" and it served me well. I don't have the desire or expertise to fix it myself.
The GOOD:Private SellerJust under 100k miles, this Trailblazer will be an excellent vehicle for years to come once repaired.Nice interior for a 10 year old vehicle.Stock Stereo with XM Satellite Radio, Single CD player, works perfectly. All electronicswork perfectly.Low mileage transmissionPower windows & locks, keyless entry all work perfectly.Besides needing motor rebuild, everything else works perfectly.New fuel gauge sender installed at 90k miles (typical to fail in thisvehicle and we replaced it when the gauge stopped working)Tow package included, Class III receiver hitch & 4-way trailer wiring6 cylinder - economical mileageInstalled NEW water pump 500 miles before it was parked.
The BAD:Blown head gasket, engine does not start.Tires need eventual replacement, 75% tread but have been exposed to weather in storage and have someweather cracksDriver side front fender has a repairable dent (see photos)Small dent on hood (repairable)Small imperfections and dents on rear door and a few other places that can be seen in photos.SALVAGED TITLE (Has NO LIENS though)
