I enjoyed doing this custom diesel re-power project in my spare time. At 138k miles, I replaced the original gas engine with a mechanical pump Cummins 4bt diesel. It bolted up to the original automatic transmission and I added a Gear Vendor's overdrive also so now it has a double overdrive. That enables a cruise speed of 70 MPH with only a 1,400 engine RPM. It gets great fuel mileage. I put on over 120k with virtually no power train problems except I replaced the Gear Vendor's overdrive once. Well maintained, with almost new tires. Runs and drives great. CA vehicle with no rust. I have enjoyed the diesel project but due to other interests, I am offering it for sale.
