1955 Chevrolet Two-Ten 2dr WagonNO RESERVE Thank you for checking out my 1955 Chevy Two-Ten Handyman Wagon. Out of all 1950s Chevrolet cars. especially out of the Tri-Five Era. I believe the 1955 is the best looking of them all. It is a natural Hot Rod in the makings. These cars are an open canvas. and the money you put into them. is well worth it. I see lots of '55 being built into Restomods. that sell well over 100K. if I were going to build one. I would do it out of a 2 door wagon. This is a fairly rare station wagon. especially being a Two-Ten model. with the side-chrome trim. in comparison to the 150 model which has no trim. The history that I know of the car goes back to the 60s. A young lady bought it to use for the US post office as a delivery rig for her rural country mail route. She used it up until the late 60’s. and then her husband slowly took it over imagine that and began turning it into a mild hotrod. He had the interior redone. repainted it. replaced wheels and tires. and upgraded to a 350 Chevrolet engine over time. He would work on it on and off until the mid 1990's. I love the looks of the two-door wagon. with its beautiful curved windows in the rear. This car really has a timeless look. The paint on the car is a light metallic blue. It is very old and it has plenty of patina. It has small scratches. chips. fading. etc. But to me. the exterior looks awesome. I would not touch it. I would just upgrade small things and enjoy it. Some would call this a “finished project”. I’ve had this car for a while now. I was first attracted to this car because my dad had a 1955 four-door model station wagon in high school. they called it Ol' Blue. It sat on his parent’s farm for over 40 years. and I was always hoping that I would possibly get that car back on the road. When I was in high school. someone came to the farm. and my grandparents gave away that ’55 wagon. so my dreams of owning that car came to a close. When I came across this car. it brought all of the memories back. especially being a desirable. hard to find two-door. I have enjoyed it immensely. but I have another car that I am looking forward to building. so I’m going to have to let this one go. Please make sure to look at the over 75 photos I included. It has its fair share of bumps and bruises. but it is overall a very solid. good driving car. Condition: As I mentioned before. the paint is very old and has lots and lots of wear. You may want to repaint it down the road. but for now it is pretty much all one color. and you can enjoy it as is if you like. To me it has perfect patina. Actually. aging it a little more would be kind of fun. We’ll start from the front to the back: The front bumper is in good shape. it’s very straight and has shiny chrome. but it has light wear with some scuffs and pitting on it. The bumper guards are in good shape as well. The grill is in nice shape. It isn’t broken. but it does have some light pitting. The hood is in excellent condition. with no dents. As you can see. it has some larger chips on it that have been touched up. The hood emblem is there. but it also has light pitting on it. The passenger’s side fender is in good condition. with no sign of any rust or damage. The driver’s side fender also is in nice shape. but there is some very small bubbles starting to form on top of the eyebrow near the headlight. Otherwise the fender looks to be in good shape. The driver’s door is very straight and solid. but there is a dime sized rust bubble in the bottom left-hand corner. The passenger’s door is also in very nice shape. and has the exact same bubble in it as well (you can see photos of this). The driver’s quarter panel is straight and in good condition. but it looks like there has been repairs around the rear wheel lips. where the body work is not that great. The passenger’s quarter panel is in nice shape. with no dings or dents. The lower quarter panel around the wheel opening has been replaced at some point during its life. You can tell it’s an old repair from inside the quarter panel area. The roof is in excellent shape. There is no dents on it. but as you can see the paint is failing. The roof gutters are very clean. with minimal bubbling in a few areas. When it comes to a wagon like this. the roof really is in excellent condition for its age. The tailgate is in good shape. Someone added Nomad trim on it. but it really does not fit the contours of the Handyman Wagon very well. The Trim on the tailgate is in bad shape. with cracks and pitting on it. The chrome trim needs lots of repairs. The rear bumper is nice and straight. but it is similar to the front bumper. having scratches and pitting. The side trim on the car is in great shape. It has a few minor dings. It is very hard to find this trim. so it is very good that it is all there. If you were going to restore the car. then basically all the trim and chrome around the headlights. tail lights. windows. etc. would need attention. The interior. as you can see. is custom. It was done in the 70’s. and needs attention. The carpet has lots of staining on it. If someone changed the carpet. it would be a great upgrade for sure. The rear seat is in decent shape. and the door panels and rear interior panels are usable. The driver’s seat obviously needs to be repaired. or the material replaced. The padding seems to be in good shape. and it is comfortable to sit in. The headliner is original. but as you can see. it has a few tears and holes in it. As you look around inside. across the dash. everything is there. but if you want it to look nicer you could upgrade the trim and chrome. All of the windows. front to back. are in good shape. The windshield has two chips in it. All of the rubber gaskets around the windows and the door gaskets will need to be upgraded if you are going to restore the car. The door gaskets and rear door gaskets definitely need to be replaced. The inner door jambs and hinges are in very good condition. The radio does not work. The steering wheel is after market. and so is the B&M shifter on the floor. The driver’s and passenger’s windows do roll up and down. but are sticky and need some help. The odometer. and speedometer do work. wipers work. and gas gauge all work. The dome light is not working. nbsp;dash lights. and heater motor are not working currently. The heater core is good. no leaks. honestly. have not had time to check why heater and dash lights not working. The car is a continuing project. so it will need little tweaks. and such when you have time during your weekends. but it is drivable as is right now. Mechanically. the car seems to be in good condition. The engine is a 350 V8. GM/Targetmaster VP Crate engine. from my research it is a 4 bolt main. with 260hp. with an Edelbrock 4V intake manifold and an Edelbrock 4V carburetors. It has Vintage Edelbrock finned valve covers. and a matching Cal-Custom finned air cleaner. The engine starts right up. It has a very nice sound with a mild cam. and it does not blow any smoke or burn any oil. It sounds very healthy. The exhaust is in good shape. but stops before the rear axle. The transmission is a Turbo 350. and it shifts nicely. There is no noise. delays. or slipping. The rear end feels tight and is not sloppy. and the U-joints feel good as well. The brakes are drums all the way around. and they stop the car nicely. I have never had any issues with them. but remember it doesn’t stop like a new car. When you’re driving it. there is some play in the steering wheel. but it does steer well. It probably has a worn steering box and the bias-ply vintage tires probably don’t help. but I have gotten used to it as you probably will down the road. The rear end I believe is pretty low geared. I have had it out on the freeway many times. and it likes 55-60 mph the best for cruising. Overall. mechanically this car is a solid. good running car. but you will probably want to make upgrades to it as time goes on. All of the exterior lights work: blinkers. headlights. license plate lights. etc. The windshield wipers are working. The hubcaps are 1959 matching Corvette hubcaps. The tires are vintage Coker Classic wide whites. and are old school polyester style. They don’t ride like a radial tire. The wheels are original ’50 Chevy Wheels. The undercarriage. which you can see in the photos on my lift. will need some repairs. The frame is in excellent condition. with only minor surface rust. There has been no alterations or repairs on it. Someone in the past has put sheet metal on top to reinforce them. which is common. but to do it right. the panels are available. affordable. and fairly easy to put in if you know how to fabricate and weld. The inner rockers and supports are rusty. which is fairly common on ’55-’57 Chevrolets. The outer rockers look to be solid. but you can tell there has been repairs to them in the past. The spare tire area is in good condition. You will also see underneath that it has a brand new gas tank. Overall. underneath is decent. with the exception of the floors. Its biggest need underneath is that the front floors need to be replaced later if you choose. If you are going to drive the car as is. I’m not sure if you would want to repair the floors. because honestly who is going to crawl under the car. I would rather put my money towards the fun stuff: speed parts and upgrades.
