Offered for sale is a very special American classic – a 1958 Chevrolet Impala. 2 Door Hardtop Sport Coupe. with the legendary 348 ci/280 HP Tri-Power engine. 1958 was the first year of the Bel Air Impala line. and considered by many as the nicest “Chevy. ” The 1958 Impala is much more rare than the other Chevy’s (including 1955 and 1957). and was featured in the movie American Graffiti. This stunningly beautiful 1958 Impala offered for auction is a very special. fully restored. collector quality. and rare classic car find. Starting the first 25 years of its life as a showroom model in a North Carolina Chevrolet dealership. this nearly all original beauty has only 39. 00 original miles. and looks stunning in its original Snowcrest White color (paint code 936). Original Condition - Powering this American legend is the original. umbers matching. high torque. 348 ci/280 hp big block engine. with the original factory Tri-Power (3 x 2 BBL) carburetors with original GM factory metal tags still attached. The 348 tri-power was the most powerful engine offered by GM in 1958. The car features Offenhauser aluminum valve covers. and the original factory intake& exhaust manifolds. factory breather. the original and rare combination generator-power steering unit. factory bench set. dash and gauges. original factory Turboglide automatic transmission and rear end. and original 4 wheel drum brakes. The original factory jack with spare is also included. as well as the original fender skirts and hub caps (original fender skirts and hub caps not presently installed or shown in pictures). The car features dual exhaust. an electric fuel pump. and period correct 215/60/15 Kelly tires. Not original to the car are the 15" Cragar SS wheels that give this beautiful Impala an aggressive muscle car look. Also not original is a retro (looks period correct) updated in-dash AM/FM stereo radio with a USB attachment to listen to your favorite oldies while cruising. The car also features a power antenna that lowers when the radio is turned off. Body Condition - The condition. performance. and handling of this 1958 Impala is excellent. Featuring all original sheet metal. the body is rust and dent free. The body is laser smooth. and the body gaps are near perfect. The body paint and chrome are in excellent condition and really shine as can be seen in the attached pictures. The only known issue with the exterior of the car is some pitting/rust on the passenger side of the front bumper. and some slight pitting on the Crager SS wheels. The bumper could easily be re-chromed. but I have left it as is for originality. and as it is minor and only in one area. The undercarriage is in good condition and has been weather coated. and the floor boards and trunk are very solid. in great condition. and rust free. Interior Condition - The interior of the car really pops. is in great condition. and is very presentable. The headliner and tri-color seat covers are in great condition. The dashboard. steering wheel. and instruments are great. with only a slight color difference between the red metal of the glove box with the rest of the metal dashboard. The Impala emblem in the rear seat has some wear marks near the bottom. but very minor. Mechanical Condition - Mechanically this car is fantastic! It easily starts (even in very cold weather). and instantly maintains a smooth idle without having to apply gas to warm the car up. The Impala does not leak oil or overheat. I drove the car in the August 2012 Woodward Avenue Dream Cruise – the world’s largest car cruise with over 40. 00 classics and 1 million + spectators. In what turned out to be a 6 hour near idle traveling only 40 miles. the Impala ran great. never overheated. and ran/idled smoothly during the entire traffic jammed event. The performance of the high torque motor is excellent. and quickly speeds this large car from 0 to 60. The 2 non-main 2 barrels really kick in when you hit the gas for passing performance. and will throw you back in the seat. The suspension provides a very smooth. large car. comfortable drive – great for cruising or long road trips. This car could be driven anywhere with comfort and confidence. Also. this big block gets surprisingly good gas mileage. Great Investment Value - Again. this is a special. very original. collector quality car and American legend.
