The Millenium yellow paint is in fine condition. showing few defects. It is original with no touch-up or re-paint. Remarkably. there are no door dings on either side. There is no damage in the rocker areas as sometimes occurs from improper lifting of these cars. There are a few low and out-of-sight scratches on the underside of the left rocker. The underside of the nose has some of the usual curb rash. but is also low and out-of-sight. There are a couple of nearly invisible. tight paint cracks on the left side of the flexible nose. The black interior is in fine shape with no flaws in the seats. door panels. carpeting. headliner or sun visors. The black dash pad is crack-free and excellent. All gauges and all lights work properly. The engine bay is very clean. The underside is California clean. most likely seeing little rain. All four wheels are in excellent condition with no curb rash. The tires have considerable remaining tread. One common problem with C5's. an intermittent climate control module. has been repaired on this car. The module was recently removed and the resistors professionally re-soldered. This car has not been tracked (raced) and probably has never been exposed to smoker occupants. It does not show any evidence of hard driving. At least two of the owners. including the current owner. are seniors. DRIVABILITY The car is a real pleasure to drive. It starts easily. idles smoothly. shifts smartly. tracks straight. brakes well and does not overheat. The emergency brake is fully functional. The body is tight with no rattles or squeaks. In short. this Corvette functions like the very low mileage car that it is. probably nearly as when new. It was the first ever Corvette to be entirely redesigned both mechanically and stylistically. It introduced the LS1 engine coupled to a rear transaxle. The LS1 was GM's first all new small block since 1955 and the first all aluminum V8 ever used in a volume production Corvette. An 8. 3 inch increase in wheelbase. the use of the transaxle and elimination of the spare tire (due to run-flat tires) made considerably more interior space than the previous C4 Corvette. Two transmissions were offered; a 6-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic. Positioning the transaxle between the rear wheels offset the engine weight and resulted in a near perfect 50/50 weight distribution. Performance was excellent.
