Completely redesigned in '08. the Chrysler Town & Country set a new standard for features and options in the minivan world and this Limited model is the top of the line with every available option! This is my wife's van that she just upgraded out of to a newer '13 model but I'm not sure why. it looks almost identical to the new ones and has more equipment. You really need to check out the above link to the factory brochure & read the road test below to get it all explained to you better than I can. but suffice to say it has two flip-down TV screens. navigation. front DVD. rear hookups and inverter. sliding console. LED halo lighting. power folding seats. and more! My wife & kids have been riding in this van for the last couple years so no expense has been spared on maintenance. I've put a new windshield in it. the tires are in great shape & are a matched set plus we did a full brake job on it last year. It has had regular oil changes too. I don't know of anything that doesn't work just like it should. I have two keymotes as well. It also has the factory luggage rack so you can mount a carrier on top if you need extra space. but there's already a ton of it with the deep well rear area behind the 3rd row plus another storage bay between the first & second row seats. It also includes the original manuals as well as two sets of headphones though we've never bothered to use them. The seats are heated plus they have comfy suede inserts up front and no rips or tears either. Carpet is pretty clean too. There are inputs in the back so your kids can plug in their xbox or ps4 and play games on the TVs or you can play different things on each screen too which is REALLY nice for us since we have two older boys and a toddler. The stereo also has a hard drive so you can load up and save your songs on to it as well. Just installed a brand new battery about 6 months ago as well. I wouldn't hesitate to get in this van and drive it ANYWHERE plus I can pick you up at the airport at no extra charge. Have the title in hand as well. Best of all. All in all. these are interesting times for a boring segment. Chrysler. the company that invented the modern minivan back in 1983. is fully expecting to continue its run of excellence-the Dodge Caravan has been the minivan sales leader for 24 years-with the fifth generation of its people movers. even as competitors such as Ford and General Motors vociferously exit the segment. Honda is putting finishing touches on a refresh of its stellar Odyssey. and Toyota appears to have retreated to the drawing board before launching an all-new Sienna. likely in 2010. Hyundai is a new player with its Entourage. and Volkswagen and maybe even Subaru are only a year from entering the segment that sees about 1. 1 million sales annually in the U. S. Although Chrysler calls them all-new minivans-and they do get new exterior styling-the floorpan (the largest piece of sheetmetal in the vehicle) is a holdover. which makes possible the popular Stow 'n Go seating system. where the second- and third-row seats disappear into giant tubs in the floor. The floor wells serve as storage when the seats are upright. Stow 'n Go was introduced for 2005 to compete with the Odyssey and Sienna. which had similarly disappearing third rows. Stow 'n Go Gets a Friend: Swivel 'n GoStow 'n Go breathed new life into Chrysler minivan sales and essentially gave the automaker a head start on the 2008 model that takes innovation a step further with its patented Swivel 'n Go that transforms the van into a dining car. The second-row bucket seats pivot (seatbelts are mounted to the seat structure) to become rear facing. allowing passengers (adults fit. but not always gracefully) to belly up to an optional removable table for a rousing game of euchre with those in the third row. When not in use. the table stores in the floor. The trade-off: You have to choose between Swivel 'n Go's table and plusher second-row seats that do not stow and the functionality of Stow 'n Go (less comfy on long rides). You can't have both. Chrysler executives admit Swivel 'n Go has the wow factor to draw people into the showroom and solidify Chrysler's minivan leadership. but the majority are expected to buy Stow 'n Go. Available with both is a slick power-folding third row. With the press of a button. the two parts of the split third row assume a normal seating position. Another touch and one or both sections fold quietly into the floor. Press a third time. and the seats perform water ballet. gracefully somersaulting and flipping to assume the tailgate position. facing rearward. A third seating option is a conventional second-row bench seat and stowable third row. Our (large) tester child. at six-foot-two. fit in all seating positions and pronounced them comfortable. The swivel seats are fatter and more luxurious. but Chrysler has improved the less-comfy Stow 'n Go cushions as well. although they must remain leaner to be able to fold away. Don't Bring Kids on the Test Drive—They'll Want OneThe new minivan is as kid-friendly as they come. The entertainment system now includes Sirius Backseat TV. with three not-so-crisp channels of live programming from Nickelodeon. the Disney Channel. and the Cartoon Network—but the SpongeBob SquarePants crowd is not very discerning. The first year is free; the second year is $19. 95 a month for both TV and satellite radio ($7. 95 is the TV portion). Familial harmony will be ensured with a separate entertainment system for each row of seating. but it takes some fiddling to sort out. Parents can listen to their music or program the optional navigation system while the two screens in back are available for TV. dueling DVDs. and video games. Music is available from conventional or satellite radio. CDs. or tunes stored in the MyGIG entertainment system's hard drive. There are 10 medium combos in all—enough to render games like I Spy extinct. We quite like the removable front console that slides to the second row—a perfect delivery system to send drive-through food to hungry passengers in the rear. The minivans also have 13 cup holders and plenty of storage to hide a purse. There is ambient lighting to help set the mood. as well as LED reading lamps similar to those in airplanes. The interior shows well in the harsh light of day. with vast improvements to its perceived quality. An integrated child booster seat will be available in models with Swivel 'n Go starting in October. and the vans feature Yes Essentials stain-proof fabric that protects this picnic on wheels. Besides all-new sheetmetal. the '08 minivans get new body-to-glass proportions. wheel flares. and faces that attempt to better reflect their brand (and hide the fact they are. in fact. still minivans). That means a Chrysler 300-like grille. quad headlamps. and chrome accents on the Town & Country. The crosshair grille of the Dodge Charger does its best to inject macho into the Grand Caravan. The hood. the front and rear fascias. the grille. and the taillamps are all distinct between the Dodge and Chrysler versions. All five models have second-row power windows that retract the lowest in the segment—crucial. we discovered. when a kid gets carsick on twisty roads. The wheelbase and the total length have grown two inches (the short-wheelbase Dodge Caravan has been dropped). and there is a distinct new square profile for 2008. However. contrary to appearances. the aerodynamics have improved. but the blocky new vans do gain about 150 pounds. To improve dynamics. the vans get a revised front-strut suspension but stick with a twist-beam axle in back. Sixteen-inch wheels are standard. with 17s optional. These bits won't be put to the test much with the entry-level 3. 3-liter pushrod V-6 (175 horsepower and 205 pound-feet of torque) in the Town & Country LX and Grand Caravan SE. That engine is mated to a four-speed automatic transmission and is rated by the EPA at 17 city mpg and 24 highway. The holdover 197-hp. 3. 8-liter pushrod V-6 (230 pound-feet of torque). standard in the Caravan SXT and Town & Country Touring. benefits from a new six-speed automatic transmission—a first for the segment—with a 37-percent-shorter overall first-gear ratio for acceleration. These models have an EPA rating of 16/23 mpg. New Engine Adds Some KickOptional on the SXT is the 4. 0-liter V-6. borrowed from the Pacifica. which pumps out 251 horsepower and 259 pound-feet of torque. It is standard in the Town & Country Limited. producing a decidedly un-minivan-like spirited ride that should give the Odyssey. which has less grunt and more weight. a run for its money. Too bad few minivan buyers are likely to splurge here. but we recommend it. The minivans will be among the first models to get Chrysler's Phoenix family of V-6 engines in 2010. as well as a dual-clutch automated manual transmission. Much effort went into giving the vans a quieter ride. including thicker side glass. We were able to converse with those in the very back without having to shout. To keep families safe on the road. there are standard curtain airbags in all three rows. driver's-side inflatable knee blockers. rear backup assist and camera. as well as stability and traction control and anti-lock brakes. Optional equipment in general is plentiful. A rear-seat DVD player. a 115-volt household-style outlet and Sirius Satellite Radio are included in Entertainment Group 1. Available exclusively on Chrysler and Dodge minivans is Sirius Backseat TV. This option allows you to watch family-friendly television. The channels include Cartoon Network. Nickelodeon and Disney Channel. Cartoon Network and Nick in this form are actually specially selected portions of those channels' programming so your kids won't stumble upon Adult Swim late at night.
