Description |
---|
1953 Chrysler estate wagon. These things are so cool -- you could fill them with bales of hay all afternoon, hen rinse 'em off and head to the country club for drinks. We bought this station wagon to modernize with a 5.7 Hemi, o it could be used as a tow vehicle. But, hile it looks great from a few feet away, he rust prevented us from continuing with this plan. We removed the interior to use in another wagon, nd are including that wagon's interior with this vehicle. Plenty of assembly required.
This is the Windsor trim package, ith its oringal Spitfire inline 6, nd a 2-speed "semiautomatic" FluidDrive transmission. Roughly 70,000 original miles. Around 120 horsepower, nd 218 ft.lbs of torque. Pulls nice and strong.
The upside: Less than 1300 of these were made in 1953, aking them pretty special. This body style was used for the Windsor (inline 6, ew Yorker (Hemi V8), nd Desoto Firedome, n varying trim. The Spitfire is original as is the 2 speed automatic trans.Rebuilt the carb, rum brakes, ome suspension work, nd it ran beautifully until I took it off the road in late 2014.I have the 1953 New York State registration slip. It does not appear to have all the information of a modern title, ut it's all that was issued in 1953.
The downside: Lots of rust. Rust inside fender walls, ear quarters, ailgate interior, ody mounts, rame. Interior has been removed - replacements from a different wagon are included. This WILL require work to get back on the road, ut you'll have virtually everything to make it complete. Mechanicals are all still in place, nd should run just fine after the fluids are flushed out. Two of the side windows have cracks, ut are double-paned so the breaks are cosmetic only. Windshield, ailgate window, tc. are perfect.
Fine print:I've been as honest as I can be. Please read everything and ask any questions before bidding. As is, o refunds. Will roll, ut does NOT currently drive. Buyer responsible for all shipping costs.
For sale locally, nd I reserve the right to end the auction early.
