The caritselfwas acquired as a rolling body and chassis from AZ. The body was pulled off the frame, nd all body mounts/bushings were replaced. Over the next 5 years, he car underwent countless man hours into extensive restoration and custom sheet metal work.Thecar was built professionallyby RickO’dell(ofO’dellKustomsand Fabrication, n Santa Clarita, A)andmyselfas a post-high school project car.It was initially builtas a performance daily driver, nd has been garaged ever since completion, ith the exception of weekend cruises and car shows. The odometer hasonlyclockeda very low 9,700 milesthe past 5 years since completion, hich is theexactmileage. (Both motor and carmileageare synonymous) The car boasts aChevysmall block 400 (basically a reversestrokermotor), ounted to a 700-R4 overdrive transmission (to be able to cruise on the freeway for road trips), long with aGMfactory 12 boltrearend(withcustomFord 9” ends/axles)along with 3.73 gears with an aftermarketposi.I can personally say that every single inch of this car has been touchedand re-conditioned. Every single bolt, ut, asher, tc. has either been replaced with new OEM, r received some sort of re-conditioning.The overall stance and aesthetics have been described as influenced by street rod attention to details, ith the American classic muscle car feel.
The following is an extensivelist of custom sheet metal work, ll including but not limited to:
*All the body lines have been cleaned up by removingand shavingany and all unnecessarytrim pieces
*Smoothed/shavedallside marker lights,turn signals, nd emblems
*Factory door handles and locks werereplaced, utleft for functionalityandasthetics
*Complete hand-fabricatedall steelcenter dash (not just a cluster), omplete with all aftermarketAutometergauges (Completely fully functionalgauges).
(Note: Original 69chevelledashpadhas been removed, nd all holes have been filled and smoothed
*Complete hand-fabricated ALL-STEEL cowl induction hood. (Fully functional,and originalfactory hood was used as a donor, nda completere-designed under hoodfabricatedframe to strengthen rigidity and functionality
*Body lines for center of hood were re-worked to match body lines on the front valance
*Engine firewall has been smoothed, nd painted the color of the body
*Body has hadallportions of the quarter panels removed and grafted in with brand new metal
*Professionallymini-tubbedinner rear fenders, ith a “factory feel” look. Car can easily accept a 31” tall slick under the rear quarter panels, hile still maintaining a lowered aggressive stance.
(Original fabrication was designed to run a size 305, r 315 sizetire out back, n a 20 inch rim…which it can currentlyfitwith the correct offset wheel)
*The front and rear bumpers have had their bumper brackets/bolts shaved, nd studs have been relocated to the inside to provide a smooth aesthetically “clean” look
*All remaining chrome trim/headlight bezels/bumpers have all been professionally re-chromed and re-polished before re-installed on the car
*The front grille is a SS grille, o compliment the body lines
Wheels:
*It’s current configuration is a set of Weld 15” wheels, ith 15 x 10” rear wheelsout back, ounted with brand new P295/50R15 tires.(Please see above description on fabrication section for ideal wheel fitments)
*15 x 4” up front, ith P195 R15 tires
Engine/Exhaust:
*It’s aChevy400cidsmall block…bored .020over(roughly 425hp/425ftlbs.torque)
*AftermarketDart Iron Eagle Cylinder Heads (Heads have been ported/polished/matched)
Additionally, orrect steam holes have been drilled and matched to gaskets for the small block 400
*EdelbrockRPM Intake Manifold
*Demon 750cfm carb.
*Customground aftermarket camshaft,(closely resembling the profile of aCompCams292 camshaft)
*Engine completelyprofessionallyassembled with all ARP studs/hardware, nd tolerances/specs with performance reliability in mind
*Additionally,Engine Block has been completely de-burred of factory roughexternalcasting seams,eliminating the potential of cracks in theblockitself.
*S and S performance headers,full-length andjet-hot coated for durability andaesthetics
*Complete3 inchexhaust,all mandrelbend, ith crossover pipe, ut back to SPINTECH performance mufflers
Transmission:
*Professionally built700-R4 overdrive transmission
*B+M Pro Ratchet Shifter
Rearend/Suspension:
*Factorychevy12bolt housing, ith custom Ford 9” ends (eliminating the factory c-clips, nd allowing axles to bolt in/out, nd essentially handling any horsepower you throw at it)
*3.73 gear ratio with aftermarketPositraction
*Drag studs have been installed on all four corners
*Hotchkisperformance lowering springs (approx. 2” drop)
*All suspension components have been replaced with aftermarket polyurethane bushings, nd aftermarket hardware.
*Aftermarket boxed Rear Control arms
Paint:
*Thepaint isVIPER GTS BLUE… (Which has a gorgeous subtle metallic flake in the sunlight)
*The stripes have been done in GM BRIGHT WHITE, n the traditional CHEVY Super Sportstlye.
Note: The paint does haveminorimperfectionsand small chips in rear quarter panels, ut to beexpected on a 10 year old paint job. However,AsI mentioned earlier it has been a weekend cruiser but a garage queen, hich still gives this car a glorious luster.
*Engine firewall has been painted the same color as the car
*Innerfenderwellsand Radiator core support has beenpowdercoatedgrey
*Interior Center Dash and Dash Cluster has been painted VIPER GTS PEARL GREY (Again, as a gorgeous subtle metallic flake in sunlight)
Electricaland/or Interior:
*All original electrical wiring was removed, nd the car has an aftermarketcustom tailored and designed wiring harness.
*Aftermarket wiring harness fuse panel has been mounted in the factoryinteriorlocation.
*MSD ignition box, ith MSD HEI Distributor.
*All wiring in engine compartment has been hidden for aesthetics, SD box located in innerfenderwell.
*Alternator is original aftermarket GM replacement (for reliability)
*Battery is located in the trunk with custom brackets, nd a battery cut off switch. (Brand new OptimaRedTopbattery just purchased)
*Additionally,AFord solenoid/relayisinstalledin between the battery and main electrical wiring, o provide an added level of electrical protection. (This keeps the run of heavy battery cable from always being “hot”.)
*All electrical works and is operational: Dome light, indshield wipers, eadlights,brights, auges, tc.
*Rear tail lights are factory bezels, ith aftermarket bright LED lights
*Car hasDynamatinstalled on the entire interiorfloorpanof the car (Extra newDynamatcomes with vehicle purchase)
*New factory black carpet installed 1 year ago
*Headunitis a Sony, ith 2 Sony "Xplode" 6x9 speakers installed in the factory rear package tray
*Interior Glass and door regulators are all operational and installed, owever, hey need minor adjustment before getting the finalized interior door panel treatment.
*Allweatherstrippinghas been replaced with newrubber.
***I have over $35k in receipts on hand for parts and shop work, ot including receipts I’ve lost over the years, nd the overall time invested in this project. I just dropped in a brand new Optima Red-Top battery, o you’ll also have that reliability with a 3 year warranty throughAutozone.
***All in all, his has been my pride and joy for the past 10 years…. 5 years to build, years to enjoy.However, do not have the time to finish the car, nd with priorities in my life changing, he car is ready forit’snew owner to be truly enjoyed and reveled. This car is an attention getter, head turner, nd a reliable performance custom muscle car. All this car needs is the finishing touches on interior, nd bolt on a set ofaftermarket20’s with a 305 tire out back, o give it that instant Pro-Touring aggressive stance.You could easily buy a set of OEM reproduction door panels, nd complete the interior in a weekend.If you’ve ever dreamed of having a really nice daily driver, r a solid show contender, r possibly just a weekend cruiser that you can add your personal touches to, hen this is exactly the car you need!With such extensive time, ffort, ustom metal fabrication, ngine and drivetrain.
