Description

1947 CHRYSLER TRAVELER RARE SURVIVOR

Runs. Drives. Everything works.

One of only 4,182 produced and according to the best information is one of 25 in existence with the Chrysler Corporation owning a number of them.

This beauty has original color combination of Rossini Brown and Catalina Tan.

The signature roof rack made by Chris Craft has the original bows (recently marine varnished).

The roof slats are made from quarter sawn oak and are newly manufactured.

The doors swing easy and fit perfectly. All the handles and cranks are original and all the windows work. Some of the glass is bubbled but are all original. There is some rust on the chrome frames.

The headlights work. The turns signals, ront and back, eft and right, ork.

The Emergency Brake works. The radio works. The heater works. The clock works.

The lighter works. There’s a small fan under the dash that isn’t wired.

The map lights work. The emergency brake light blinks as it should.

The interior light works. The engine lights works.

The trunk locks (with the handle at 9 o’clock)

The body is amazingly straight.

Some work…years ago, as been done. I’ve found at least one spot of Bondo. There are rust spots, hips, tc which is expected after sixty-eight years. (see pix) Also, think there’s been some overpainting, ut years ago.

The previous owners loved survivor cars as do I so it has the blemishes of age.

Comes with original hubcaps and the very rare aluminum beauty rings for each wheel.

The headliner has an inch square hole, therwise is fine.

All the dash pieces are there. There’s a non-structural crack in the glove compartment door.

The battery is heavy duty 6 volt Optima from Antique Auto Battery Co from Hudson Ohio ($300.00) and it starts the car up right away, very time.

What needs work:

The original upholstery is under these older somewhat cheesy seat covers…both are not in good shape.

The driver’s side kick panel in front is off, ut I have it.

The trunk has two small inch square holes and has been coated with anti-rust.

The floor panels have been replaced by a previous owner.

Extras:

A couple of side hood Traveler emblems

A couple of front chrome pieces.

Extra rear arm rests and front arm rests (the best are on the car).

THE CAR NEEDS A BRAKE JOB…it stops, ut it’s not safe. Included in the sale: 4 nos brake hoses, wheel cylinders, eturn springs, s well as brake shoes – not precisely sure they’re right.

Also included: fresh sparkplugs and fan belt.

Also: vintage parts manual and shop manual and owners manuals.

Also: Included is a roached roof rack – the chrome is good and worth money – the wood bows are delaminated and the slats are useless.

The car comes with one 1947 Colorado plate and two 1947 Ohio plates.

A jack comes with it.

A car cover comes with it.

This is the last of my collection. Previously I sold my 1964 Landrover, 958 Renault, 948 Traveler, 939 Chrysler Royal, nbsp;1953 Chrysler Town and Country, 959 Jag, 950 Jag, 968 Thunderbird…this was my favorite because of its details, riginality and scarcity.
