Description

I am selling a very unique 1990 Chevrolet K3500 4x4 with an ambulance body on it. I bought the truck from the Federal Government in one of their various sell offs. The unit has 11,982 miles on it. If you have any experience with government assets you will know that these specialty vehicles will get used for a couple years maybe early on then sit in a warehouse for twenty years until they finally decide to group up stuff at a particular location and sell it. The truck has a 6.2L diesel and an automatic transmission. They did have to jump battery off which is no surprise. The inspection, hich was very detailed, aid a guage was not working properly and that they had removed the headlights. All very minor stuff. It has 235/85R16 Tires, /C and heat. I would assume A/C will need freeon as all these government items do.
They indicated there was absolutely no blow by or pressure which is to be expected. I have included oil sample at bottom of listing that shows no wear whatsoever on this motor. Also, t was noted that hinges on passenger door need to be oiled. They were a bit stiff. Again, function of sitting alot. The last unit like this I bought was a 1987 model D30 Chevrolet truck. I got it from same company. It had 9800 original miles on it. You can tell alot about this one by how straight the dash is. I have never seen one this age with a dash that wasn't cracked or crumbling to pieces. It indicates inside storage and not much time in the sun. The truck is located in Portsmouth, A. I'm not sure what branch it was in particular but its location would indicate to me to be a former Naval asset.
I have no problem with anyone doing a personal inspection during the auction. I recognize it is hard to fathom a unit this old with these kind of miles but it is extremely common on government liquidations. I am available for questions at 931-434-9503 or you can email me. $500 deposit due via paypal within 48 hours of end of sale and balance transferred within 7 days of sale's end. Title is clear and will be sent once item is picked up. These units truly are unique and the buying opportunities on them are getting fewer and far between. Again, lease ask any questions you may have prior to placing bid. I would think there are many things a person could do with the truck. My thought was take off the ambulance body and wiring/lighting and sell it then you would have a very nice cab and chassis or find a bed and put on it. Many possibilities. I have included a picture of the government tag that identifies the unit. They usually state what they paid new for the item which they also did with this truck. You can see that they paid almost $30K in 1990 for it. That was alot of money in 1990. For those who want to verify it was government property you can do so with the numbers off that tag. I have started the truck low and it will sell once first bid is placed. The last one like this I had ended up at $8500 so you never know.
