I AM THE SECOND OWNER. THE PREVIOUS OWNER, R, S A FORD ENTHUSIAST AND MUSTANG COLLECTOR. JR AND HIS FAMILY TRAVELED OFTEN AND HE WISHED FOR A MUSTANG WITH 4 DOORS AND A LARGE TRUNK SO HE COULD TO TRANSPORT HIS FAMILY TO AND FROM THE AIRPORT WITH ALL THEIR LUGGAGE. IN 2003 HIS WISH CAME TRUE IN THE FORM OF THE REVIVED MERCURY MARAUDER, ND WHEN THE LIMITED PRODUCTION OF TRILOGY’S INTERCOOLED SUPER CHARGERS BEGAN, E QUICKLY MADE A RESERVATION. THE 250 UNITS SOLD FAST DESPITE THE $7K PRICE TAG (PLUS INSTALLATION, ND RECOMMENDED WHEELS AND BRAKES).

TRILOGY IS NOT A GENERIC BOOST PRODUCTION COMPANY; THEY ARE A PART OF THE ENGINEERING FIRM THAN HAS BEEN HELPING FORD DESIGN SUPER CHARGERS FOR MANY YEARS. THE INTERCOOLED SUPER CHARGER KIT FOR THE 03/04 MERCURY MARAUDER WAS DEVELOPED DIRECTLY WITH MEMBERS OF FORD SVT TO COMPLEMENT FORD FACTORY EQUIPMENT AND MAINTAIN THE FACTORY RELIABILITY. SO, LTHOUGH MANY SUPER CHARGERS ARE SIMILAR, HE TRILOGY MOTORSPORT KIT IS AS CLOSE TO A FACTORY OPTION AS POSSIBLE. KIT #87 WAS INSTALLED BY A FORD MASTER MECHANIC WHO’S NAME AND CONTACT INFORMATION ARE LISTED IN THE INSTALLATION DOCUMENTATION. NO SHORTCUTS WERE TAKEN AND ALL RECOMMENDATIONS WERE FOLLOWED TO THE LETTER.

THE REAR FACTORY RIMS WERE WIDENED TO 10 INCHES TO HOLD THE RECOMMENDED 295/45/18 AND THE 8 INCH FACTORY FRONTS ARE HOLDING 245/50/18.

ADDITIONALLY, AM INCLUDING SEVERAL ITEMS THAT I HAVE PURCHASED BUT NOT INSTALLED :

1. NEW PROGUARD UNDER-BODY REAR DIFFUSER. STILL IN THE BOX. THIS IS THE ONE FROM MUSCLEMERCS.COM WITH THE REINFORCING BRACKETS.

2. NEW TRANSDAPT OIL FILTER RELOCATION KIT.

3 TWO ADDITIONAL MM "9 INCH" WHEELS WITH NEW TIRES (NITTO 420S 255/50/18). THE WHEELS WERE WIDENED 1 INCH BY WELDCRAFT IN SEPTEMBER OF 2015 AND THE TIRES WERE ALSO PURCHASED IN SEPTEMBER. THEY WERE ON THE FRONT OF MY OTHER MM FOR 1000 MILES SO THEY'RE A DIRTY WITH BRAKE DUST IN THE PICTURES. THESE ARE REAL MM RIMS WITH THE CORRECT CENTER BORE AND GODS-HEAD CENTER CAPS.

4. A NEW HEAVY DUTY INDOOR/OUTDOOR CAR COVER (STILL IN THE BOX).

AIR CONDITIONING AND STEREO CONTROLS DUPLICATED ON THE STEERING WHEEL AND SELF LEVELING AIR SUSPENSION IN REAR. EVERYTHING FUNCTIONS PERFECTLY. THE ONLY OPTION THIS CAR DOES NOT HAVE IS THE FACTORY TRUNK ORGANIZER. BY THE WAY, HE TRUNK IS ENORMOUS AND HAS A FULL SIZE SPARE WITH MATCHING RIM (DULL RIM, OT POLISHED)

THE STEREO CD / CASSETTE PLAYER HAS AN ADDITIONAL 6-CD CHANGER LOCATED IN THE TRUNK. I KNOW THIS IS AN ANTIQUATED SET-UP, O I CONTACTED CRUTCHFIELD ABOUT REPLACEMENTS THAT HAVE MODERN CONNECTIVITY OPTIONS; MOST GOOD STEREO RECEIVERS WITH USB, LUE TOOTH AND SIRIUS RADIO CAPABILITIES, LSO HAVE AVAILABLE ADAPTERS TO RETAIN THE STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS. SOME ALPINE UNITS ARE ONLY $200.00 (FOR EXAMPLE).

I HAVE DRIVEN THIS CAR FROM HOUSTON TO ORLANDO AND TO OKLAHOMA CITY, ROUND THE HOUSTON SUBURBS, ND COUNTRY ROADS, LIKED IT SO MUCH THAT I BOUGHT A SECOND ONE FOR WORK. IT AVERAGES 19 MPG AT NORMAL SPEEDS ON THE HWY ON LONG TRIPS (70-75 MPH), UT ON THE HWY NEAR THE HOUSTON TRAFFIC I USUALLY GET ABOUT 17 MPG. NOTE: IT REQUIRES 91 OR 93 OCTANE FUEL. IT RIDES SMOOTHLY AND HANDLES ROUGH ROADS MUCH BETTER THAT MOST CARS. IT HAS A STEEL FRAME AND A SLIGHTLY MORE RIGID SUSPENSION THAT GIVE IT A SPORTY FEEL.

IT DOES NOT HAVE DOOR DINGS BUT IT HAS ABOUT 5 DROPS OF TREE SAP NEAR THE LEFT REAR WINDOW (THEY’RE NOT EASY TO SPOT, UT THEY’RE LIKE SUPER GLUE, DIDN’T WANT TO USE ANY HARSH CHEMICALS ON IT) AND IT ALSO HAS A 4 INCH DENT/SCRATCH OVER THE RIGHT REAR WHEEL (SEE PICS). A LOCAL DENT DOCTOR QUOTED $200.00 TO REPAIR IT. HE SAID IT WOULD BE A SIMPLE REPAIR BECAUSE IT IS IN AN AREA WHERE IT IS EASILY ACCESSIBLE FROM THE INSIDE THRU THE TRUNK. IT DOESN’T BOTHER ME SO I LEFT IT ALONE. IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN GARAGE KEPT SO THE PAINT IS STILL SHINY, UT IT COULD USE A PROFESSIONAL WAX JOB.

I DON’T KNOW IF THIS QUALIFIES AS A “HOT ROD”, CONSIDER IT A VERY RESPONSIVE FAMILY SEDAN. THERE ARE FEW CARS AVAILABLE TODAY WITH THIS MUCH ROOM AND POWER FOR UNDER $50K. IT IS FUN TO SURPRISE THE CHILDREN IN THEIR NEW MUSTANGS 5.0’s WHEN THEY TRY TO SPEED AROUND YOU TO CUT IN LINE. HA!

I KNOW “IT’S JUST A CAR”, UT IT WOULD BE NICE IF IT WAS PURCHASED BY A MATURE PERSON WHO WOULD CONTINUE TO TAKE CARE OF IT. WHO KNOWS?! SOME DAY IT MIGHT EVEN BE CONSIDERED A CLASSIC!
