Description

This 1998 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 has to represent the most bang for the buck in any of our showrooms right now. One, t's super clean, ith just 28,741 original miles. Two, t's got a supercharged LS1 and a 6-speed, o it's insanely fast. And three, t costs fifteen grand. Good luck finding a faster car for less cash! The silver Z/28 looks great, s it should with such low mileage. Obviously never a daily driver, t's been a serious toy almost since day one. And even though it's now 17 years old, t hardly looks it with a modern appearance thanks to a blacked-out roof hoop and those sinister wheels. The composite body panels are in excellent condition and the factory-applied paint shines up beautifully, o you'll be wanting to get this one to every show you can find. The updated nose on these final fourth-gen Camaros is arguably their best look, bit softer but less boy-racer, erfect if you like to walk softly and carry a big stick. Tinted windows help with the cockpit look and this one carries factory T-tops for a bit of open-air fun on sunny days. It's never been hit or wrecked, nd despite the supercharged powerplant, t sure looks like it's been babied every day of its life. No road rash on the rockers, o beat up nose, nd a smooth surface that's been washed and waxed on a regular basis. The gray cloth interior didn't really need upgrades to be a highly functional driver's compartment, nd the low-key look certainly helps with the stealth factor. The seats, arpets, oor panels, nd other soft parts are in exceptional shape, howing almost no wear, hich is rather amazing for a car that's approaching two decades old. The Z/28s came pretty much loaded with everything, ncluding A/C, ower windows, eats, ocks, nd mirrors, ruise control, nd a full array of gauges, nd it's all working properly. An aftermarket boost gauge was discreetly added to the center console, ut that's the lone modification inside. Heck, ven the AM/FM/CD stereo is still the original Delco unit. The T-tops still seal up well and the trunk is big enough to handle a few overnight bags on your next road trip.Later Z/28s like this one got the Corvette's all-aluminum LS1 engine, nd while GM was playing games with the numbers, t ran like every one of the 305 horsepower was working overtime. Adding a Vortech supercharger and a Power Cooler intercooler means that output is well into the 400s without affecting drivability. Lay off the throttle, nd it runs like any other LS1, ith smooth road manners and no complaints about city traffic. But get it out in the open and let it stretch its legs, ell, t's a different story. Boost comes on smoothly, rodding you to go faster, nd the well-spaced ratios in the 6-speed manual gearbox mean that it's easy to keep it in the fat part of the torque curve. A glance underneath reveals that everything's pretty stock and in great shape, o you know it always lived someplace warm. It's been lowered slight for a wicked stance and the gunmetal gray 5-spoke alloys and big Goodyear radials look exactly right.Nasty fast and very attractive, his Camaro under-promises and over-delivers and for the money, ou won't find a more enjoyable muscle car.
