Incredible luxury and performance have always been a Jaguar hallmark, nd now you can own it for pennies on the dollar with this 2009 Jaguar XF. Still looking contemporary and powered by a burly 4.2 liter V8, his is first-class travel at a discount coach price.The XF debuted in 2007 as the mid-sized Jag and the styling was suitably subtle and elegant, s you'd expect. There are styling cues from the past (mesh grille) but the car is looking squarely into the future with its smooth contours and sleek profile. The pearl white paint looks absolutely radiant, nd despite showing 96,821 miles on the clock, t's been fastidiously maintained and looks years younger than it is. Jaguar's legendary attention to detail shows in the deep glossy paint, he tight panel gaps, nd minimal distractions; there's not even a "leaper" hood ornament on this Jag. The front bumper is beautifully preserved and hasn't been bashed by road debris, trongly suggesting that someone always thought this car was special, ven when commuting at high speeds. Nice chrome accents, ncluding the grille surround, win "blades" in the lower grilles, nd along the trunk opening suggest opulence inside, nd all of the brightwork is in excellent condition.Jaguar interiors have always been special places, nd this XF is no exception. There's leather everywhere, nd the designers at Coventry spent extra time wrapping almost everything in soft, mooth tan hides. Plush carpets on the floor add to the hushed ambience, nd that's real wood veneer on the dash and door panels. Turn the key and you're treated to what Jaguar calls "the handshake" as the dial-type shifter rises out of the center console and the HVAC vents open up. Glowing instrumentation has a decidedly old-school look and most of the controls are managed by soft touch switches that feel expensive under your fingers. The leather-wrapped steering wheel talks directly to your palms and even the dash pad is a beautifully fitted expanse of brown leather-like material that looks like it cost as much as a couch. There's also a large screen for the infotainment system, ual-zone climate control, eated seats, nd a big sunroof overhead. The back seat is comfortable enough for adults and looks to have been rarely used, hile the trunk is huge and well-shaped, erfectly for high-speed road trips.Jaguar's 4.2 liter V8 engine provides effortless power and incomparable smoothness, nd when you're just cutting through traffic, t's nearly silent. But in the best Jaguar fashion, hen you really boot it, t wakes up and snarls, aking the most delightful V8 wail this side of Daytona. It never gets unruly, f course, ut this kind of power can be addicting. It's been properly maintained all its life and runs smoothly and competently without issues. The 6-speed automatic transmission has a knack for always being in the right gear and the all-independent suspension rides smoothly but feels buttoned-down in the curves, trait only Jaguar seems to have mastered. Of course, ou get all the electronic driving aids like traction control, tability control, BS brakes, nd things like that, ut the hardware behind it is excellent, ncluding a set of brake rotors the size of trash can lids.
