EXTREMELY RARE, 933 LINCOLN KA 514 TOWN SEDAN...OLDER RESTORATION STILL IN AMAZING CONDITION AND RUNS AND DRIVES FANTASTIC!!!
ACCORDING TO EXPERTS, OF 201 OF THIS STYLE KA BUILT!! THIS ONE IS #93 AND IS A MURRAY BODY. ORIGINAL, ATCHING NUMBERV-12 PRE-WAR LUXURY MACHINE!!!
LINCOLN FANS WILL APPRECIATE THIS RARE OPPORTUNITY....DO NOT MISS OUT!!
Here is a great quote from an article in a magazine from the 1930's that was given to me:
"Built to impossibly demanding and costly standards of perfection...one of the greatexperiences of motoring...the car makes you a man of distinction even before you start it on its majestic journey...anyone with a foot on its running board is the psychological equal of a millionaire."
Every now and then I enjoy stepping out of my comfort zone when locating a classic car for my inventory. I can honestly say that buying a 1933 Lincoln was not on my to-do list, ut when a car of this caliber presented itself I had to take a closer look. It also helps to have a technician that grew up in a restoration family who is very familiar with, n has restored quite afew ofthese pre-war iconic luxury machines. I give him most of the credit in spotting this gem and convincing me that this was a "true classic" that needed to be bought! As he took a closer look he reassured me that it was also an extremely original car that was lovingly preserved. The next day I purchased this very rare '33 Lincoln KA Town Sedan and gave my technician the honor of driving it back to our showroom. You should have seen the smile on his face as he pulled it in to our facility as he bragged about how great the car drove and how it brought back memories of the cars he and his dad restored back in the days. We both sat there and imagined who might have owned or driven this back in the day. The car was previously owned by a car collector locally here in the Atlanta, A area who bought it in 1999. Previous to him it appears to have lived in Colorado since 1987. Prior to that I have record of it being owned by an enthusiast from Kansas who bought it in 1975. That is as far back as I have records. The previous owner provided me with all of the paperwork and history he had which shows that the car received a restoration between 1987 and 1989. Wow, his beauty is 83 years old and was restored 30 years ago!!!! In addition to the paperwork history, was also given quite a few manuals, rochures, nd promotional materials that may be originals and probably worth a fair amount on their own. The previous owner had several pre-war classics in his collection. He enjoyed driving these cars and not merely collecting them. He told me about several trips he had made in this Lincoln and how great it performed. He maintained the car very well and kept it tuned and ready to drive. As you will see in the pics that follow this V-12 Lincoln presents itself extremely well and I would call it a survivor that received a high quality restoration many years ago and shows some age and patina but is definitely an investment quality classic that any collector will be extremely proud to own.
After purchasing this '33 Lincoln I consulted with a gentleman from Michigan who was quite knowledgeable on these Pre-War cars. I forwarded him pics of the body tags and he did some research and came back with info from somebooks he had that indicated that there were only about 1150 KA's built in 1933 and there were about 13 different production body styles on the KA chassis. It is believed that there were only 201 of the 514 Body Town Sedan body style. This car is #93 of those 201. Surely there are far fewer then 201 of these left today making this car extremely rare.
Rather then fill this listing with all of the history and details on these Model K Lincolns I will try to mention some important facts in my description that follows that I have learned since owning it. There are plenty of sites you can find with a quick google search if you would like to educate yourself more on this model.I will do my best to provide enough large images, video so you can hear this V-12 start up and running, nd an honest description to help you decide if this rare piece of luxury automotive history should be in your garage or museum before the next car guy or gal scoops it up. As with all of my classic I will have this car listed on my site and several others. Therefore, f you realize just how special this Lincoln is and want to secure it right away lease feel free to give me a call to discuss how we can make that happen!! There are not very many of these on the market and who knows how many are still on theroad today. Ibelieve I have set a very realistic price for such a rare car. Sit back and enjoy!!!
As I mentioned, his KA Town Sedan was last restored about 30 years ago and it wasdriven and enjoyed since then. As you will see in the pics that follow the body and paint look fantastic still, owever, would liketo point out that upon close inspection you will see various spots where the paint is showing its age. There are some cracks in the paint and some chips that have been touched up. Some of you may be wanting to tell me that the car is not painted in the correct original color scheme and you would be correct. While it is possible the car could have had a 2-tone paint scheme originally it is unlikely that the fenders would have been painted in the maroon color with the rest of the body black. This, owever, as a changeindicative of many restorations done in the 70's and 80's and still looks fantastic. We considered treating this 83 year old to a fresh, ll black paint job but just had a hard time justifying it. My feeling is that this car can be driven and enjoyed just the way it is, r, he collector who wants a concours type car they can easily bring it up a notch if desired. Some of the pics that were taken in the bright sun light make the color look more red then it is. I would call the color a dark red or merlot. Thisparticular car has a Murray body and the original body tag is on the body and Murray emblem mounted behind the spare tire on the passenger side. Back to the body....super straight, ock solid with no rust or sign of rust repair. There is no doubt this car was treated like the royalty it is. Any restoration that was done was surely done by craftsman. Receipts show the paint and body were done in 1988 at a shop in Golden, olorado called Classic Coach. Chrome grille surround and those huge headlights look great with minor signs of age. Other chrome, ncluding bumpers show their age up close but are very presentable. The roof insert looks fantastic and was most likely redone at time of restoration. Doors open andsit beautifully and there is nothing like the feel of them closing....they do not make them like this anymore!!! Running boards were redone at time of restoration and look fantastic! Beautiful locking trunk sits on the rear and could be an original in great shape. All of the glass is in greatcondition and receipt show all windows were replaced other then thewindshield which looks amazing. Windows function smoothly and of course the fold out windshield feature functions perfectly as do all of the vents. Greyhound hood ornament in great shape. As you will see in the pics below the paint has great shine and reflection and you will be proud to drive this Lincoln to any car show or event. It would certainly be the hit at any wedding and could probably be rented out for such events as well as movie productions if that is something you were interested in doing. Enough already....I will let the photos do the rest of the talking. Enjoy the tour!
Open the suicide doors on this '33 and observe the truly luxurious tan interior that was also completely restored. The interior is a tiny palacefinished in fine fabric and beautifully grained, erfectly finished wood. There are receipts from 1987 showing the seats and headliner were redone at a cost of $3500. As stated in what I believe to be an original dealer brochure, he Town Sedan is a decidedly smart, ndividualized car lending itself to town use. A wide comfortable rear seat with side arm rests and center folding arm rest affording a degree of privacy because of closed rear quarters. Every appointment luxurious and in good taste. The restored interior looks amazing, howing almost no sign of wear. Seats are very comfortable and rear privacy shade still in place. Carpeting and door panels look equally nice. The wood on the doors is beautiful. Check out the dash which looks amazing and most likely was redone. Gauge bezel looks awesome and most gauges are fully functioning. The fuel gauge is the only one I do not think is working and the previous owner provided a tool he used to check the fuel level. Original steering wheel in amazing condition. Horns work!! Beautiful 3-speed shifter and emergency brake function well. Vacuum brake booster switch works correctly. You will see in the pics that in the drivers side glove box compartment there is a control box for turn signals that were added. We have not used the heater but were told by the previous owner that it is fully functional. As you will see in the pics below the interior is in absolutely stunning condition and ready for the shows!!!
A new class of luxury cars emerged in 1929-1930 initiated by the V16 Duesenberg and V12 Cadillacs. These super classics marked such an advance in luxury and performance that the only answer was to join them or be outclassed. While the original K series Lincolns had a V8 the 1933 KA featured a new 381.7 cubic inc, .3L V12. Imagine that, V12 was the standard motor!!! Granted this V12 only had 125 horsepower but of course it was built with all of the highest standards for which all Lincolns were known. When you turn on the ignition and press the starter the huge engine springs to life and quietly awaits your command. Its smoothness is unbelievable and you will have to stare at the gauges for a second to assure yourself it is actually running. Guide this great machine through the gears and imagine yourself accelerating through the streets of the 1930's. She handles the road beautifully and steering and brakes all feel great. The mileage is reading slightly under 51,000 miles which is very possibly correct. I believe the motor has been gone through but do not have any documentation showing this. Regardless this big motor is making excellent compression and the previous owner made several trips totaling 200 miles at a time. As you can see in the pictures below we have detailed the engine bay so you will be quite proud to pop the hood at any event or at the gas station when onlookers will surely want to take a look. We lubed and greased where needed and changed all the fluids and gave it a good tune up. Again, here is tons of information available with a google search to educate yourself on the mechanics of this great luxury automobile. We have driven it and believe it is ready for the next owners enjoyment. Wide whitewall tires have tons of life left in them. Make sure to watch the video that follows to hear this gem start up and running. The undercarriage is extremely solid and presents nicely for a driver with no rust issues. Take a look and then watch the video:
This car also has quite a bit of documentation and of course all of the original plates and numbers on the car are still intact and are matching. The engine number is clearly stamped on the left side of the crankcase below the center of the cylinder block and matches the KA 775 ID # on the firewall tag. The plate showing the body number #93 is attached to the seat frame under the front cushion. In addition I will include numerous brochures, anuals, nd articles that were given to me with the car. Many of these may be originals which surely add to the value. I also have a fair amount of receipt and service history going back to 1975.
