1953 Chevy 5 Window A mix between a Rat rod and a Street rod so we have here what I call a StratRod. This truck has been a 3 ½ year build for me. A complete frame off restoration of which I have every receipt and over 250 photos of the process. For someone who wants a head turner or just loves the attention that this one of a kind truck brings you will not be disappointed. I have entered it into one car show. Tucson’s largest Cops and Rodders show and it one first place in the Rat rod category. I did take the truck to the GOODGUYS SW Nationals in Scottsdale for Saturday to show it but did not enter nor stay until Sunday for the competition (I mention this because I drove the truck there, 20 miles each way with no issues). Mind you this is a totally custom built ride where all work was meticulously completed. This is not a spare parts junkyard Rat rod. As much time, reativity and money has been put into this truck as nearly any other that it competes against. My fellow car show enthusiast who parked next to me at the Cops and Rodders show said they would never park next to this truck again because it stole the show and had attendees swarming it all day with questions and cameras. The truck has every option: power steering, ower 4 wheel disc brakes, ilt wheel, link rear-end, ilt up bed so you can fill the rear fuel tank (notice the 1916 adjustable wrench that looks like it is laying in the bed, his is the actual handle to lift the bed up), ew wiring harness with all lights and gauges working. A very cool banjo made out of a clutch plate and flywheel is mounted in the back, he banjo has copper strings to match the copper under the hood. Every where you look is a detail after detail, he barn wood bed is from a barn in Montana, he bottom of it is covered in canvas with a red coating to waterproof the wood from the bottom. Railroad reflector glass has been inlayed in the tailgate to reflect the CHEVY wording when lights hit the glass. From a Levi Jean headliner to the custom steel over glass seltzer radiator reclaim bottle under the hood the truck is one of a kind. Copper and gear work under the hood give the truck a little bit of the Steam Punk look and once again every part is functional. The entire underneath has been coated with truck bed coating so no more continual rusting. All rust was removed in the beginning and care was taken to make sure the truck had all new parts with a body that looked the time period. As you can see in the photos the goal was to find the balance between Rat Rod look but drive as a new truck. The rust you see has been chemically applied, eutralized and clear coated with an automotive clear coat. Other metal has either been powder coated or painted with automotive paint. I could not add every photo to the listing but I hope I gave a good representation. Any buyer will not be disappointed. The truck has 500 miles on it so I have not driven it wildly as I need the engine to break in properly. No one will be disappointed. Even the car and truck guys who like the shiny paint an billet look are captivated by this 53. I have listed the work completed and parts new and rebuilt below. This is a very comprehensive list of which I am sure I have missed a few items As mentioned before, have all receipts and somewhere on the positive side of 600 personal hours(don’t want to know exactly how many because this would be depressing), n the work as nearly all was done by me so I could be sure of the workmanship. 4 link rear / rebuilt and powder coated 1972 4 bolt main 350 motor re-built and bored 30 over 10 ½ to 1 compression Rebuilt 700R4 transmission (hydraulic overdrive instead of electronic) 79 Trans Am frontend New Moog 5032 front springs New 4 wheel disc brakes Power steering Power brakes New front grease zerks New front shocks New front ball joints New sway bar bushings New engine mounts New cab mounts Re-enforced frame New sway bar linkage New rear coil over shocks and springs Vintage aluminum valve covers Custom rat rod intake Custom tilt Custom tilt forward leather seat Custom 3 belt seat belt brackets Heavy Duty racing flex plate Perma Dry Plus Felpro Valve cover gaskets Felpro Performance exhaust manifold gaskets New power steering box RCI 20 gallon aluminum fuel cell Truck bed coating behind all panels and undercarriage New 8” Power Brake booster kit New Heavy Duty Denny’s Drive shaft New water pump bearing New brake flex lines New brake hard lines New 3/8” Hard Fuel line New Steel braided fuel line from tank to frame New mechanical fuel pump New hydraulic hoses to Power Steering New 115 amp alternator Custom radiator support New 8” harmonic balancer Powder coated grill and inner fenders New aluminum 3 core Champion radiator New Lokar 32” double bend midnight shifter New accelerator pedal New Lokar throttle linkage New transmission dipstick and tube New Gauge cluster New speedometer Custom license plate frame New Bills Hot Rods alternator and AC compressor brackets Custom PS brackets New Gates 7395 Power steering belt New Gates 7508 Alternator belt New Gates AC belt 7525 Hinged custom barnwood bed with 12 guage shell and 53 badge inlay Canvas covered sub floor under bed Removable steel plate in front of bed with custom battery box All new bolts nuts and washers on entire truck All new bulbs Custom 1950 Buick parking bezels under headlamps New felpro carb gasket 60038 New starter and starter long bolts New rigid transmission cooling lines Cigarette lighter assembly Custom coffee cup holder New sd508 AC compressor New return and supply radiator hoses New Gates vacuum hose New autolite 26 spark plugs New wiring harness New Russel old school woven harness wrap New Heavy Duty battery cables New battery disconnect switch HD Pullak New grounding terminal blocks under both front fender wells New grounding terminal behind license place behind shifter New Lokar floor shift boot New bullet wiper post caps New copper mechanical oil sending unit New 0-30 ohm fuel sending unit (classic insturments) New Chevrolet side hood emblems New dome light New mirror refractor Custom oil breather Custom radiator recovery system (1920’s seltzer bottle: not just an overflow) New door panels All new interior hardware New ACCEL super stock plug wires New techpak Pt#k77978 throttle valve cable New kick down carb cable bracket New edlebrock carb bracket New stewart components 180 deg Robert Shaw Thermostat New custom floormats New tailgate chain covers New window seals New cowl vent seals Rebuilt edelbrock carburetor New earls pre-filter New edelbrock intake line and filter New 1” phenolic edelbrock carb spacer New stainless steel tight fit headers New flowmaster dual exhaust New 12” Derale puller fans (custom shroud with 2 fans pulling 4000 cfm)(one thermostatically operated the other manually operated) New Custom REV aluminum wheels 17 x8 and 15x6Fat Mat liner throughout the cabNew Carpet and insulation
Only 2 items need completed & I might have this done by the time the truck is sold. 1. I installed a power invertor to run the light under the hood. It still needs connected to the battery. (I will probably leave this to the next owner because they may not want it installed) 2. The odometer is mechanical the transmission was electronic. I purchased the kit and cable to make the conversion but have not installed it. All gauges work, ll lighting works; even the hazards on the steering column works. This was a pet peeve of mine when looking at Rat rods; it seems builders were only interested in making them look cool and not functional. AC is not installed, ompressor is installed so I could make sure all pulleys lined up correctly and purchase the correct belt. It will have a fresh oil change as 500 miles will be the third time I have changed the oil for engine break in. The next change will be approx. 1500 miles. 35,000 or best offer All delivery or pickup is on the buyer. I will assist in a reasonable manner. Of course all monies will have to have cleared the bank before the truck leaves home.TUCSON, RIZONA Oversees buyers are welcome. If you need more pictures I can email them to you. I will try and answer all questions in a timely manner. Nathan 520-247-4868 Thank you for looking
