Up for sale is my 1997 Astro van. This is an AWD van and goes through the snow like a champ. I'm not a pro at selling vehicles so I'm just going to go section by section on here and tell it just like it is... this little van has gotten the job done for me for almost three years now but it has issues, o PLEASE read everything! IF YOU COME TO LOOK, R YOU WANT A TEST DRIVE IT WILL NEED TO BE JUMPED TO START AS IT HAS BEEN SITTING UNDRIVEN AND IN THE COLD FOR A WHILE. IT USUALLY TAKES A JUMP AND STARTS THE FIRST TIME BUT SOMETIMES TAKES A COUPLE OF HITS IN THE REALLY COLD WEATHER...... NORMAL! THE JUMPER CABLES IN THE PICTURE DO NOT COME WITH THE VAN- THEY ARE IN THERE TO JUMP IT WITH IF IT NEEDS TO BE JUMPED AND THEY GO INTO MY OTHER TRUCK WHEN THE VAN IS GONE... SORRY, KNOW THEY ARE AWESOME CABLES.
THIS IS A CANADIAN BUILD VAN AND ALL OF THE GAUGES READ IN METRIC PRIMARY. AMERICAN STANDARD READINGS ARE IN SMALLER PRINT ON THE DIALS INSIDE OF THE RINGS BUT IT DOES TAKE GETTING USED TO, ND THINGS LIKE THE ODOMETER ARE DIGITAL AND ARE IN METRIC AND HAVE TO BE MANUALLY CONVERTED INTO MILES FROM KILOMETERS!
CONDITION: Body wise, his van is pretty solid for the most part. There is a lot of rust along the bottom and around the wheel wells, ome on the back hatch doors and a little on the hood. The undercarriage is pretty rusty but when I had a fuel pump put into it in 2013 and had brake work done just last spring both times I was told the undercarriage is still solid under the rust. There are numerous dings and small dents. Really, hough, or the age it's not too bad. I drove it for almost three years to work and back and to farmer's markets and was never ashmed to be seen driving it... it's actually a fun little van to bop around in! The gauges tend to wander a little bit but for the most part stay pretty accurate. I never quite trust the gas gauge once it hits the quarter tank mark and don't like to let it go much below that just because the gauges do fluctuate a little bit. I have done an rough tracking on mileage and even with the leak, his gets 15- 18 mpg highway (I think it's siphoning gas while driving fast enough that it's not leaking much, ust while it idles). It could use a tune up and will once in a while pop a check engine light. I had my mechanic run his scan tool on it twice and both times it came back as a random misfire that happens occasionally. He said a tune up and some new wires would take care of that- the engine runs good. The biggest issue it has right now is that it needs new fuel lines. The fuel lines are rusty and it does leak gas somewhere back near the tank area. The gas odor is really strong when you first turn it off, nd if you leave it idling it will puddle gas. I just never left it running... sometimes that caused it to be hard to restart because it would then lose prime but it just took three or four tries and usually it would restart. All of the doors open easily, he back has the double door system, ot the three door dutch system. It has power windows and locks but the power locks can be finicky and there is no fob for the locks. The CD player and the tape player have both worked sporadically but have both also quit working- I never really used them anyways, o they may just need to be cleaned... the radio is great and it has a good speaker system. The interior looks good after a fresh cleaning- my son is a detailer and he did a quick detail on the inside. It was pretty much trashed when I bought it three years ago so what he did to it is amazing...
FEATURES: This is an AWD van, oes through the snow really well. It will need new tires pretty soon, he tires are the ones that were on it when I bought it and I haven't put that many more miles on them but they are getting pretty down there. Third row seating for 7 passengers or take out the third seat for cargo space like I did.
HISTORY: I bought the van used three years ago and the owner said his son had been living in it and trashed it pretty bad. I cleaned it up and have driven it ever since. I have put a fuel pump (2013), ew front brakes and brake lines (2015) and a battery (in 2013) into it plus changed the oil every 1000 miles just because it's up there in mileage even though I don't drive it very much.
SHIPPING AND PAYMENT: I will not ship this under any circumstance. The buyer will be responsible for arranging pickup within 7 days of the end of the Listing. I WOULD STRONGLY RECOMMEND HAVING THE VAN MOVED VIA TOWING COMPANY IF IT'S GOING MORE THAN ABOUT 50 MILES FROM MY ADDRESS SIMPLY BECAUSE OF THE GAS LINE ISSUE AND THE TIRES WITH THE WINTER ROADS. THAT IS BUYERS CHOICE. Buyer will pay via PayPal IN FULL before sending for pick up or if coming in person may pay via cash at the time of pick up. If coming in person, ou may test drive the van, ut once you bid it is SOLD and the deal is done. I have described everything in as much detail as I can and there isn't much more I can say...
