Old Uncle Les passed away in 2006 and left us this Geo Tracker. He was the original owner. It only had 22k miles at the time. We seldom drove it very far and it has an actual 49k miles on it now. I mainly used it to haul oak leaves and brush from around my house to a ravine a block away. I could get 4 large plastic garbage cans of leaves in the back standing upright. Occasionally during the winter we would use the 4 wheel drive to go a short distance around town. You could literally go anywhere in bad weather. It was great to take to some large event because you could always find a place to park. It was fun to drive with the 5 speed trans and the engine was very spunky.
The problem is: even though low mileage and everything works fine - the road salt has taken its toll and the car is badly rusted. I went to drive it a few blocks one day and as I pulled out on the main road it felt like a rear tire suddenly blew out. What happened was a support rod for the rear wheel snapped off of the frame. I was able to drive it about a block to get home. It has sat in the driveway since. Acorns have dinged the top and hood and looks like hail damage. The oil pan has some rust holes up high - I patched them once but it started to leak again. As long as I kept it a quart low it didn't leak much. Also, tube on top of the gas tank has a small leak - I patched it once but it still leaked a little so I didn't fill it to the top. It has a towing hitch for Uncle Les' small fishing boat but I don't think he ever used it. The rear seats I don't think were ever used.
I was going to send it to the junk yard but I thought maybe someone might have a use for it with the low mileage.
