The independentfront suspension features MacPherson struts, oil springs and direct-acting19mm stabilizer bar. The rear suspension is a semi-independent compound crank(torsion beam) design that combines the advantages of a conventional torsionbeam axle with low weight and the ability to be tuned.

All SparkEVs have power, lectric rack-and-pinion steering. Its tight, 3.8-foot (10.3M) curb-to-curb turning circle enables excellent handling and maneuverabilityfor tight city spaces.

The SparkEV’s brake system includes:

Four-wheel ABS Standard electronicbrakeforce distribution Brake assist Hill Start Assist Electric parking brake StabiliTrak stabilitycontrol Traction control.

The frontbrakes include an electro-hydraulic regenerative brake system that capturesbraking energy – normally wasted in a conventional vehicle – and transfers itto the battery system. From the vehicle’s top speed of 90 mph to approximately10 mph, nd as long as the deceleration does not exceed .3g, egenerative brakingis used 100 percent of the time to slow the vehicle.

Hill StartAssist helps prevent drivers from rolling when restarting from a stoppedposition on a hill. It allows drivers to take their foot off the brake longenough to use the accelerator and move forward.
