2002 Land Rover Discovery II SE - Serviced, LOW Miles, Rust Free, NO RESERVE!

I'm thrilled to offer for a sale this BEAUTIFUL color combination, OW MILE 2002 Discovery SE! It has been very well cared for and drives like a dream and looks absolutely stunning in Ossi Blue over Bahama Beige! Let's dive right in!
Background:
Let me begin with a little background. This gorgeous Rover was ordered as a heavily optioned SE model which offered the standard 4.0L engine and was adorned with many extras on top of the standard luxury. Aside from the dual zone climate control, ower windows, ocks, irrors, tc, tc, tc, hat every Disco came standard with from the factory, he SE and this truck took it much further! The SE package added full leather seating with 8 way drivers and 6 way passenger power, urled wood and alcantra accents, 8" "Hurricane" Wheels, og lights, ual sun roof, eadlamp washers, oad space cover, 2 speaker Philips stereo and on! And those little details make a huge difference and make this truck go head to head with many more modern trucks! The cabin becomes increasingly warmer in feel and finish and steps up the details of luxury to a level not even seen in future generations of Land Rover. This was a very expensive truck when new and not many were made relative to the more affordable base and SD models. This SE came out of the factory in a beautiful color combination: Ossi Blue over Alpaca Beige Leather. It is truly in a BEAUTIFUL and CLASSIC color package.
This blue beauty has spent its entire life in sunny, ry, emperate Southern California since and is rust free!!!! It was majority serviced by Hornburg Land Rover of Santa Monica as well as very respected independent Rover shops here in SoCal and even while being driven very little, ept in dry storage, tarted often and serviced with dedication and care. It keeps getting better! Let's continue to the service!
The Condition and Service:
This truck has been ENTHUSIASTICALLY and PROFESSIONALLY maintained and serviced and is a high standard for Rover service!
Let's start on the engine and drivetrain:
This engine has LOW miles for the year (a normal average of about 5,200 a year), 8,000 miles appear on the odometer. Boy, h boy, s it rare and great to see a Rover with such low miles! There hasn't been a 1999-2002 Discovery sold on Ebay in the past 90 days, t least, ith this low of miles, o don't hold your breath! It was driven and enjoyed as it should be, ut being owned by someone who wanted to enjoy it for decades, t was showed more than generous preemptive care. There has been A TON of scheduled and preventive maintenance performed to this truck to keep the engine in near brand new condition. The motor is very healthy and has loads of smooth power! And a happy Rover will go and go and go happily for hundreds of thousands of miles. And this happy Rover has received LOADS of preventative maintenance to make sure of that. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS. NO 3 AMIGOS LIGHTS. NO ABS LIGHTS!
-HEAD GASKETS
As part of the preventive service schedule, his truck received BRAND NEW OEM head gaskets and OEM head bolts. This service was done within the past 500 miles as part of this truck's ongoing preventative care. THIS is the maintenance you want to see on a Rover! The truck runs COOL as can be and has never overheated. The cylinder heads were cleaned, ecked and pressure checked! BRAND NEW valve cover gaskets, alley pan gaskets and seals, ront cover gasket, il pan gasket, xhaust manifold gaskets and upper intake gaskets, ll resealed among a few other minor seals. These were done in order to keep with the same high regard and care. The upper and lower intakes, alve covers and front cover were thoroughly cleaned.
-RADIATOR/THERMOSTAT
Radiator flows fantastic and keeps this beauty nice and cool and was replaced a few years back. The temp needle NEVER moves past 3 o'clock even with the AC on and in traffic. The proper OAT coolant is used and brand new! BRAND NEW OEM thermostat! Newer expansion tank!
-WATER PUMP
As part of the overall service a BRAND NEW water pump was installed as well! Not once did this truck show a need for it, ut it was done as part of the dedicated service to keep it in tip top shape and ready for the owner to go LOADS of care free miles.
-IGNITION
BRAND NEW Champion coppers (the RIGHT plugs) and high quality STI wires. BRAND NEW ignition coil packs!
-FUEL and AIR
Newer fuel cap, uel filler assembly, 2 sensor and air flow meter!
-BATTERY
Newer battery!! Cranks hard and fast everytime!
-BELT
BRAND NEW serpentine belt!
-AIR FILTER
Newer air filter!
-ENGINE MOUNTS
Rover engine mounts are known to break and split apart. Fear not, s this truck has two BRAND NEW motor mounts!
-EMERGENCY BRAKE
Recently adjusted and tight, nly a couple notches on the handle holds the truck tight
-TRANSMISSION
The trans was just given all new fluid and shifts great!
-DIFFERENTIALS
New gear oil in the diffs! NO clunks going into gear. Please re-read that Rover fans. When was the last time you drove a Rover that didn't clunk/clank/thud into gear???
Lets move to the suspension and brakes:
-BRAKES
Newer brakes pads in the front and rear, he truck brakes great. No ABS lights! No 3 Amigos lights. No traction control lights or issues!
-SHOCKS
Nice feeling OEM shocks. They are soft on bumps and tight in corners. The trucks handles wonderfully!
-4WD SYSTEM
4WD Low and High both work great! New Transfer Case oil!
Let's continue to the exterior:
-PAINT
The paint is quite nice! It is a 7-/8+ out of 100. Shiny, eautiful Ossi Blue paint was recently polished, inished and waxed by a highly acclaimed detailer here in LA. It looks wonderful. It has lived its entire life in sunny, ry, outhern California! NO ACCIDENTS! Carfax will show a damage report (not an accident report) in 2014, o let's dive into that to put all fears at rest. In 2014, few small branches fell from a Santa Monica city-owned park on to the truck. Not logs or big chunks of mother earth, ust some small branches and such. While in most cases, his would not be a big deal, ou shrug your shoulders and life goes on, he city actually offered to take care the scratches the branches put on the truck. The damage was limited to superficial scratches on the roof and a few on the hood. Damage was so light that had it not been repaired, t would have been seen as about average wear and tear for 68k mile vehicle. There were no dents to repair, o metal to work, t just needed some scratches repainted. The car was sent to a local, ell known body shop which repainted the roof and hood, he right way. Meaning, he headliner was dropped, he roof rack removed, he trim removed etc. This was not a quicky job - no tape lines and paint build up around edges, o overpsray etc. The bonus to this is that Discovery roof and hood paint is known to have clear coat issues and peel, o now you have wonderful new paint to not worry about!
The blue paint is deep and has a wonderful luster! There are several very minor dings, ostly on the lower drivers door. I tried to capture these in the pictures, ut they don't pick up very well given their small size. They are shallow in depth and have some light scratches. There are a few scratches, ouch-ups and flaws which are very hard to see in pics and in person, ome of the small examples which can photo are highlighted in the pictures below. The flares have a little very typical sun fade too, ut clean up nicely. Remember this is a near 13-14 year old truck, here may be some minor scratches, ear not discussed in detail etc, ut they are well below any expectation level for Discovery or cars of this year. Even against more modern cars the paint will compete head to head - it really is quite nice. This is a dry SoCal truck! That means no rust lurking under the surface ready to pop up and ruin your paint! If there was a place to buy ANY Rover, t is dry, arm SoCal. No rain and no road salt! Check out the clean inner doors and jambs!
-TIRES
Loads of tread life left on the tires! Fronts and rears have 90% tread left and are new condition.
-WHEELS
The Hurricane wheels look wonderful on the Rover! They were just recently cleaned and look great. There is some minor flaws and some fading on the drivers front wheel, ut because of the overall shine and shape, ot very noticeable.
-BUMPERS, ALANCES and PLASTICS
The bumpers are in wonderful shape and free of the typical sun fade that is so common in them. No big, roken pieces as found on so many other Rovers! They, long with the other plastic or rubberized plastic trim, hines beautifully! The lower grill and valance are very nice and the foglights are free of cracks or issues! These little bits of trim quality and integrity drastically increase the look and beauty of a Disco!
-GLASS
Not to let a pebble defeat this truck, he windshield is in great shape! Beautifully clear glass makes a world of difference. It makes the truck feel brand new! The door glass is wonderful shape!
-TRAILER HITCH
The Rover has a factory trailer hitch!
-UNDERCARRIAGE
Nice undercarriage! No rust, ot or trail scars. Never offroaded!
Onto the cabin:
-SEATS
The Bahama Beige leather seats are in nice shape. The leather is SO soft and comfortable. I truly love driving this truck. You sit high and comfortably in these buttery soft seats! The dark brown piping offsets the Bahama Beige leather perfectly! The leather has been very well cared for and shows some minor flaws at. There are two small spots of wear at the piping on the drivers side bolster and there is some light discoloration spots the bottom of the passenger seat cushion. Neither are major and do not take away from the overall beauty of the truck. There are very small little flaws don't take away from the interior, just like to point out anything I see! I just can't be the "nice interior" and that's all the ad says guy! The interior has been recently cleaned and conditioned as well and is overall is very nice shape! Rear seats are in great shape and appear to only have minor use at best. All wear would be would I would call average or below average for a car with 68k and 13 years old.
-DOOR PANELS
None of the typical suede dirt or staining on the door panels!
-HEADLINER
BRAND NEW headliner looks fantastic!
-CARPET
Beautiful carpet in the truck! It has been shampooed and cleaned as part of the overall detail. Check the carpet on the passenger side as it comes up the transmission tunnel - no stains from a leaking heater core! A full set of black original Rover dealer floormats are in wonderful shape, hough the driver's mat has a little rub through from a strong heel.
-POWER SEATS
All power seat functions work perfect! Hard to find in a Disco!
-POWER WINDOWS
All windows work smooth and quickly! Another hard to find in a Disco!
-KEYLESS ENTRY
The keyless entry system is functional!!! Power locks is a treat in a Rover!
-SUNROOF
BOTH sunroof work perfectly! A Disco rarity! ALL sunshades work with no broken clips!! One sun shade has a minor tear at the very back, hich can not be seen and does not affect usage or sun blocking ability. Just sits about a 1/2" lower from the little tear.
-RADIO
The OEM radio works great and sounds good! No blown speakers or issues!
-AC/HEAT
AC is arctic cold and heat is earth core hot!
-MIRRORS
Power mirrors work perfectly!
-CENTER REAR VIEW MIRROR
The self dimming ink has not popped and bled in the mirror like 95% of other Disco's. A true rarity!!!
-STEERING WHEEL
The leather is very nice, o tears or issues or major issues, ery minor wear only! It has been conditioned and feels great in your hands! It is a real rarity to find these wheels in good shape!
-CONSOLE
Check out how clean the inside cubby is! Shifter is in nice shape, o major wear on window switches, upholders in great shape, very nice console indeed! The emergency brake boot and transfer case boot have the very typical vinyl wear seen in most Discovery.
-CARGO AREA
Rear carpet is fantastic! Rear cargo cover present, orking and in wonderful shape!
The Experience
Driving this Discovery is fantastic. It pulls and handles like a sports car and is as comfortable as a Rolls Royce. It has all the power it had from the factory an then some, nd from even a little gas is torquey and responsive. An off road guy? Though this truck has never been offroaded, ne trip in a Disco in the dirt will have you hooked on the famed capabilities! I hope you can tell by my long ad that this truck is a great pre-owned and beautiful Range Rover. There are other Discovery, ut if you do find one for sale and it has more methodical service, urge you to buy it! Remember, overs take a little extra care and feeding, o a Rover with 68k miles with questionable, nknown or poor service history is worth about as much as a Slurpee if you add up all the service that will need to be done to make it a reliable, eautiful, olid truck again. Don't spend big money on a truck from a "turn-em-and-burn-em" style dealer when all they do to promote the truck is say a few things they think people like to hear. As you may tell from my ad, know the care that these trucks need and the details that make them tier 1, rom a tier 2 or worse and I hope to have addressed them to those of you that know as well. If an ad says "Low miles and well cared for" Ask questions! If you don't get thorough, ell addressed answers, tart planning more money and more aspirin. This is a NO RESERVE AUCTION! If you were to add up all of the recent items in this truck, ou would find well over $11k in recent retail scheduled and preventive service and restoration alone. This truck is ready to go live another 150k+++ miles of beautiful, eliable, njoyed life in your hands. Don't buy an unserviced truck for a little less than spend multiple times as much to get it to this level of service!

Small scratch on the back door - very thin and not deep at all.
Small scratch on the back passenger side quarter panel just under the rear window. A couple inches long, ot deep at all, aybe could be polished out.
A few small dings/scratches on the very bottom of the drivers front door. The dings are very shallow. The width of the entire area of scratches (the near width of the picture is about a key length)
