This is a beautiful. restored. Datsun 240Z from 1972. I have owned the car since 2010 and drove it regularly for a couple years while living in Texas. Sadly. since moving to Massachusetts in 2013. I just don’t get to drive it much anymore – just a couple of car shows and Sunday drives a year. It’s time to sell it and let somebody new enjoy this wonderful car. The owner before me fully restored the car in the early 2000’s (as you can see in one of the pictures. it was originally orange). When I bought it. it came with a folder of documented receipts totaling more than $12k. Among many others. work completed included: -New metal floor pan and front fenders-Rebuild on stock inline 6 cylinder engine with EFI conversion from 1979 280Z -Complete custom exhaust with amazing sound -Short throw shifter on manual 4-speed -Complete aero kit with beautiful 2 tone paint job -New interior including carpets. seats. and CD player Since then. I have had to do very little maintenance on it – just tune ups and oil changes here and there. plus a fuel line hose to fix an issue with the gas tank (it looks like the previous owner replaced all of the rubber on the car other than that hose). The car starts great and runs great. The odometer reads 22316 (not sure if that’s 22316 or 122316) and it has less than 4000 miles on it since the restoration. It has a few imperfections that you would expect from a 43 year old car (a couple gauges that don’t work. a small chip in the paint on the door. 3 cracks in the dash. etc. ) and. while I’m not a mechanic. I suspect it could also use new shocks at some point to stiffen up the handling. As for rust. there are virtually no signs on the exterior of the car that I can see. All of the chrome looks great. There is one pea-sized paint bubble near the rear wheel well. but if you push on it. it feels solid. and the inside of the well behind it has no sign of rust. so I doubt the bubble is caused by rust. The spare tire compartment feels strong. and while there is a bit of surface rust. most of what you can see in that picture is the old orange paint showing through. Again. I’m not an expert in this stuff. but from what I can see the car looks 99% rust free and what is there appears to be surface rust. I’m happy to send pictures of individual areas if you have any requests. Buyer is responsible for shipping. While I’ve taken it on 100+ mile trips before. I would not recommend driving it. or any 40+ year car home if you live a distance away from here. I’ll be sad to see it go. but glad it will be moving on to a home that will get more use out of it. Happy bidding!
