Hello. am selling my 1971 Nissan Fairlady Z (Datsun 240z in the US). As far as I know I am the 3rd owner of this wonderful piece of Japanese history. It was bought new in Japan by a US soldier and shipped back to the states after his deployment. He owned it till the late 80's then sold it to a hot rod collector here in Colorado. He truly enjoyed the car and drove it on occasion till the late 90's where it was parked in a garage until I bought it 2010. During the 80's the car went through some cosmetic changes and received a body kit. scooped hood. wing. and purple/white paint job. It stayed that way until I got it and started the makeover process to go back to the original look of the car. In mid/late 2010 about 4 months before the SEMA Show in Las Vegas I was asked by Enkei wheels to finish the car and bring it to Vegas to be featured in there booth to re-introduce the world to there Enkei 92 model wheels. A very classic mesh wheel from that era that looks perfect on the car. In the short amount of time the body work was done and a fresh factory white paint job was added to the car. Some quick carburetor work and fresh gas and the car was back on the road. Loaded in a trailer and taken to Vegas. the car was a huge hit at the show and helped usher in this Japanese car craze we are still seeing at shows around the US today. as well as more classic Japanese cars on the SEMA Show floor. Enkei used images of the car in there 2011 catalog as well as there website (which it is still on today) Click here to see that page After the SEMA Show the car was brought back to CO and stored in a garage until 2014 when I brought it to California for the JCCS Show (Japanese Classic Car Show). there the car took 3rd place "Best Overall 240z" out of close to 50 in the field. This car has been a wonderful addition to my collection and will make any classic Japanese car lover very happy. The car is not perfect and please keep in mind that the restoration was done in a 4 month span. so there were things there were left untouched. then after SEMA it has not had any additional resto work done to it (just been keeping it running. ) With a little more work this car can easily be bringing home first place awards at any classic show around the country. I have kept on eye on the Fairlady market (which is very small) and the value just keeps going up. just today a rare Fairlady Z 432 model sold at RM Auctions for $230k! I am pricing this car very reasonable for what it is and knowing it still needs some work. Here is some more specs on the sections of the car - Exterior- Original factory headlight coversNew door handles. and side marker lightsOriginal emblems and badgesThe rear quarters. rear bumper area. and side rockers had some rust when I got it. so new panels were purchased and installed. Fiberglass front lip spoilerOEM White Paint jobSemi Gloss Black bumpers. grill. and rear taillight panel. The center sections of the original taillights were missing but the lenses were all good. so I covered the center holes with some stickers. trim pieces can be re installed with no issues. All the glass was pulled for the paint job. Unfortunately the underside of the hood was not painted due to time and the fact that the car would not have the hood up at the SEMA Show. The floor pans still have some rust and I would recommend that they would need replaced sometime soon. The body work was done quickly and is by no means perfect. please no that there are many blemishes and some sanding marks can still be seen. I do not have the wiper arms. I thought I did somewhere. so if I find them in the future I can always ship them to the new owner. Interior - All original black interior. Vintage Nardi wood grain steering wheel. also a matching wood grain shift knob. The seats are in great shape. There is no radio or fuse panel cover on the console. They were missing when I got the car. The dash has a few cracks but for the age I would say its not that bad at all. I replaced all the rubber seals when the car was being restored but over time the glue I used has started to loose its grip. the rubber door jam moldings would need re-glued on. Due to the age please expect the interior panels to not be perfect. I know there are a few small cracks on some of the rear panels. When the interior and dash were pulled out while all the body work was done it was cleaned and looks great. Please note that due to time constraints when the dash was put back in the car. not all of the wiring was plugged back in. so currently the lights. speedo. wipers. and turn signals are not active. Suspension - All the components were brand new and installed for the SEMA Show. since then they have seen about 20 miles driven on them!Tokico shocksGround Control CoiloversExtended wheel studsCustom made wheel spacers195-60/15 Yokahama Tires (only about 20 miles driven on them)15 inch Enkei 92 mesh wheels. brand new will all the center caps. Enkei was introducing the wheels in 2 colors at the show in 2010 and wanted to showcase booth on the car. The car has Gold wheels on the passenger (left) and black on the drivers (right) sides. A full set of brand new in the boxes. black 92's can be added to the deal for $500Engine - Factory L20A SOHC Inline-6 - Rear Wheel Drive5 Speed Manual TransmissionI do not know the original miles on the car. the cluster shows 26. 51. I am sure that when it was brought to the US. a MPH cluster was put in. so please note that these may or may not be actual. As far as I know the engine has never been out of the car or had any major work done. I have done (recently) new spark plugs. carb re-build. oil change. fresh fluids. There is no leaks or drips. just residue from the car sitting most of the time. The car starts and runs but probably could use a little more tuning or tweaking on the carbs. Please note that the car sits more then it drives. so it really could use a little more tuning and some miles put on it. Here is the link to photobucket where there are over 200 photos of the car. Please bid only if you are serious and have the money. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask. Thank you.
