1961 Dodge PhoenixThis is a tale of two cars and how one had to be sacrificed so the other could live on. Prior to me. an Alabama state trooper owned this Phoenix and a 1987 Chrysler 5th Avenue. It was his idea to combine the later model running gear into the Phoenix. He fell ill and sold the cars to another fellow who was paying an employee to do the work. They got into an argument and both cars were going to go to the crusher. I knew this fellow and tried to purchase the Phoenix before they started cutting it up. Anyway. I ended up saving them from the crusher. When I got the Phoenix. it was no longer a roller - the front suspension was totally cut out. plus no motor on transmission. The 5th Avenue was in great shape. 123k but no title to be had. I went ahead to combine both cars and this is what I came up with. The car has complete 1987 5th Avenue running gear from engine to rear end. Everything rubber has been replaced. Has new Cooper tires. Brakes are excellent. Motor was cleaned. given new oil pump. rear seat. valve seals. painted. and has Edelbrock intake. AFB carb and all new electronic ignition. Has new shocks on back. All new belts and hoses. Floors were rusty but been repaired with welded metal. Also trunk area has been fixed. Car has new dual exhaust from manifold to rear bumper. Original wiring was shot. so everything has been rewired. Gauges were installed. dash still lights up. Speedometer and wipers also work. No heat or A/C. Could use gas gauge. Interior is original seat cover. Headliner and visors still okay for their age. I have taken this car to a cruise-in where it was a total mind bender to most folks. They had never seen a car like this. I have 2 other projects so this one has to go. This car is not perfect. and yes it could use more attention. but it runs and drives even at night great. The hard work has been done and it deserves a good home and someone to appreciate it and the journey it has been through. I've had a good time having it and working on it. but it is time for someone to take and make it their own. I will work with purchaser with storage and shipping. Please message with any questions--as I'm sure I've left some things out. Serious inquiries only please!I personally think this car would be great in a "Mad Max" movie!$500. 00 deposit through PayPal must be made within 24 hours of sale unless other arrangements are made.
