I bought this car in 2009 from Collector Motors in Houston TX. as a body only. Then I had them put in a mid 70's 440. which doesn't match up (internal v. external balance) with the 64 tranny. It has never run just right. I have been working on this car off and on since 2009. using a handful of different builders. We have gotten the car to almost-done. I was driving it some last summer. and it sounds good. moves out fast. chirps on take-off and shifting to second. I have had the torque converter balanced with welded weights. but not satisfied. If I keep the car. I have a fresh 69 Road Runner 383 for it. Before I take that step. I am offering the car for sale as is. - with the existing 440. The interior still needs work. Headliner is bad. no carpet. and all of the interior windshield trim is rusted chrome. I thought about just blasting and painting it. I did have the seat backs redone. where I have saved as much original fabric as possible (Tri-Star emblems) and renewed the parts that needed it/ Door panels same- saved the embosses swirly part. the rest is new. needs installed. Paint is older job. with some bubbling over the left rear wheel. Small area. and has not gotten worse over the years. A few imperfections in the hood as well. someone closed the hood on some tools or such. making a up-dent. Most all trim is present. except for hood lip piece and on D-letter on the decklid. Tires are good as rollers only. You can finish the car from here. I am burnt out on the car. having over $15. 00 invested. and still not done. I need to move it for space needs. and to focus on other projects. See my other cars on roysvintagecars. com. The successful buyer can have the option of buying my Road Runner 383. It is offered on the side for (ask me later)OPTION Item- (Not included in this auction) - - - -69 Road Runner engine bored . 030 with forged 12/1 TRW pistons new moly rings. The only other thing I can think of is that the floors have been coated with a black epoxy. I assume they were patched prior. In my years. there has been no deterioration to those repairs. They seem sound and solid. Oh. I only have one Tri-Star emblem for the roof side sail panel. Missing one. This car is not perfect. but it is a head turner. and will make a nice ride for someone willing to complete it. I have taken in so many new projects. I have to let this one go. and make room for others. It's close to reserve. so happy bidding! Call me with any questions - Roy 303-988-0391
