Description

This 1970 Challenger SE 383 is. at the risk of using an overused term. a barn find. It has been stored in a California garage since 1985 until last September. It is very rust free with two small exceptions. There is a small hole. noted in pictures below. at the bottom. center of the rear window. This caused water to settle in part of the trunk causing another small on the left side of the trunk pan. Both are easily repaired. The rest of the “usual suspects” such as the quarters. front fenders. interior floor pans and frame rails are pristine. The powertrain is a 383 two barrel engine with factory A/C. The A/C is complete and the compressor engages when the low pressure switch is bypassed for test purposes. I am sure there is no Freon present after nearly 30 years of storage. The transmission is a 727 and rear end an 8 3/4. I believe the ratio is a 2. 73 highway gear set. Brakes are drums on all four corners The car runs. drives and stops fine but needs to be completely serviced and safety checked before driving on a regular basis. Taillight lenses can be polished to make them nice. There is a very small. hairline crack in the left lense. but does not show up in the pictures. The interior has been pretty baked by the sun so will need to be restored. The dash pad is cracked and the seats covers and foam are split as one would expect from an unmolested. unrestored California car. All the gauges work with the exception of the speedometer. I suspect a cable would remedy that issue. The vinyl top has been replaced at some point in its life and the material was not of the highest quality so needs to be replaced once again. It appears the left front fender has some filler but the frame structure does not show any signs of major damage. The side moldings following the side body lines are missing and the trim around the taillights is not there but everything else is in place and in good shape. save a couple of small dings that can be spooned out and rebuffed. The grille is about a 7 or 8 out of 10 and the bumpers have no dents or bends. This is a very solid car that could be safety checked and driven as a Survivor now or completely restored to the new owner’s level of preference. You will save thousands and thousands in restoration costs due to the lack of rust normally found in a 45 year old car. Milage is suspected to be accurate but I have not verified to be correct. Shipping arrangements and costs are the buyers responsibility but I am willing to help facilitate at this end as needed. I have tried to make my description as complete as possible but if you should have ANY questions. please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you for looking and happy bidding!
