On offer is an original US specification 1959 Fiat 600.
This car is completely stock except for a Pertronix ignition module in the original distributor and an electric fuel pump. I have resisted the temptation of improving the car beyond factory spec because I wanted to experience it as it would have been "in period". The performance is probably a little bit below that of a stock '59 VW Beetle.... which is not to say that it is not enjoyable only that it is a bit of a challenge in modern traffic. I do not recommend that this vehicle be driven on the freeway / highway but it is fun on surface streets, specially on the twisty bits. The steering is light as a feather with excellent feedback from its narrow section Yokohama 12" radials. It reminds me of my Lotus Elan in this respect.
I bought this 600 because I was inspired by the history and racing successes of the Abarth cars that were based on its platform. I can now see how this basic car with an additional helping of horsepower and some bigger brakes would make a truly fun ride. I know that it would look great with a nice set of Campagnolo wheels, front mountedradiator and the engine lid propped open. People of all kinds seem to appreciate seeing this particular 600 on the road. The rich patina draws people in so be prepared to talk !
Please note that the floor pans on both sides have been replaced but could use some better finish work performed on them. There are small isolated rust spots that I have treated with POR15 to hold them at bay. I have all of the aluminum trim pieces that are not shown in the photos though I believe they are available new as well. The front seats have been rebuilt using original style materials and I will include the replacement covers for the rear seatalso. I do have the original door trim panels but they are only good as patterns. I do not have any of the rubber matting that served as carpet. There are a number of well used but usefull spares available with the car as well. The mileage listed is what is shown on the odometer. The Speedo and Odometer are inoperative so the true mileage is unknown.
Thanks and good luck bidding !
