You are looking at a VERY RARE VERY ORIGINAL and VERY COMPLETE Factory Grabber Green M-code 351C-4V 1971 Torino GT Sportsroof optioned with a UBER COOL Ram Air Shaker hood. This car while needing a full restoration. is an extremely worthy candidate with it's super desirable option list and with its stunning original color combination!! This is an ORIGINAL 1971 Torino GT that has spent most of it's early life cruising the Miami. Fl area as a very cool and stylish Beach Cruiser! This car was a driver for many years in the South Beach area before heading north when it's time as a daily driver had ended. Once it's days as a Beach Cruiser were over; the Torino was parked as a someday project and forgotten about while waiting for the next Torino enthusiast to come along and restore this car to its former glory!!This car was a Stock order at Austin Ford in Miami. Florida and was ordered to cruise in style and comfort!! It was ordered in the new for 1971 Z-code Grabber Green Metallic Hue with Factory Laser Stripes and a nicely contrasting White Kitted Vinyl Bucket Seat Interior with Center Console. This GT was further ordered with the very strong. yet reliable optional 351C-4V engine. nbsp;C-6 Automatic Transmission. a 9 inch 3. 25 rear end and the OH SO COOL Ram Air Shaker Hood!!! This '71 Torino GT Sportsroof was well equipped and per the Deluxe Marti Report originally ordered as follows:351C-4V V-8 Engine C-6 Automatic Transmission3. 00 9 inch Conventional RearGrabber Green Exterior PaintWhite Knitted Vinyl Buckets with Black AppointmentsBody Side Tape Stripes (Laser Stripes)Hideaway HeadlightsF70-14 Wide Oval WSW TiresVisibility GroupPower SteeringPower Disc BrakesBumper GuardsRam Air Option (Shaker Hood)Air ConditioningAM RadioConsoleDual Rear Seat SpeakersTinted Glass This Torino GT was ordered to stand out in the crowd with an Eye Catching Grabber Green exterior with a BOLD set of Gold Laser Stripes and a Cool White Bucket Seat interior that just had to have made this car absolutely POP when new!!The M-code 351 Cleveland 4 barrel carburetor engine is original to the car and runs very good. It has had a vintage rebuilt Motorcraft carburetor put on it and while it runs very good if it sits for a day or 2 the carburetor seems to dry out and you have to pump the accelerator vigorously or manually prime it with gasoline to get it to fire again. Once primed and running again it is fine and runs all day until the next time you let it sit for a couple of days. The carburetor will obviously need some work. but really does make the 351 run well! The engine sounds great; it does not have any issues to speak of and is pretty much all stock with its original 4V Heads. its original 4V Intake and Exhaust Manifolds and even down to the original Shaker Bracket on it. The C-6 Transmission drops into gear fine and shifts through all of the gears without issue. The bullet proof 3. 25 geared 9 inch brings up the rear and also is without issue. The car looks to have had one repaint over the original Grabber Green paint and appears to have been just a cheap 'used car' type of paint job done in a Darker Shade of metallic Green. There was a liberal amount of filler used in the cars repaint and much of the old body work is starting to show its age. Being from South Florida and the Miami area in particular this car has the typical kind of upper body rust issues associated with a coastal car and the Salt Air from the Atlantic; but the car has a very solid underside with only minimal rust in the floor pans. The Frame Rails. Rockers. etc are all ROCK solid on this car! There are a couple of spots on the roof where it has rusted through (see pics) and the cowl like most of these old Torino's does have a leak. The Shaker hood is not perfect and has had some filler in the snout. the fenders and doors are decent. but not perfect and while needing some work appear to be serviceable pieces. There is filler in the 1/4 panels and this was done amateurish at best and they will need to be repaired correctly. The trunk lid will need to be replaced and the panel between the trunk lid and rear window has filler in it as well. While certainly not perfect; nor a rust free car by any means; the rust repair that does need to be done is pretty basic restoration type work that most nearly 1/2 century old projects will require. This is a very sound car underneath with no frame or structural issues to deal with as you often find with cars from a harsher northern rust belt climate. The White Bucket Seat Interior is all there and while not perfect the interior has all good serviceable/restorable pieces. The Seats. Steering Wheels. nbsp;Console. Door Panels. nbsp;etc are good solid pieces to work with. The original radio was removed by a prior owner and the dash as cut for a DIN mount flat face modern type radio and this will have to be repaired or replaced. The console while complete will need to be restored as well as it has some cracks and chips in the body and arm rest hinge area a most of them do. The Hideaway lights are not functioning and you have to open and close them manually. The AC components are mostly all there. however you will need to recondition or replace some of the pieces in order to make it a functional system again. The brakes and front end had some work done to them several years back with not many miles since; but since it has been sitting the brakes have become a bit spongy. This car while definitely a project; is not a tough one to take on as all of the major components are here and the car runs and yard drive as it sits today. With a couple of weekends worth of work you could have this up and functioning as a driving resto project and take on the restoration tasks of your choice as you cruise the Barn Find Torino GT of your dreams down the boulevard once more. The Magnum 500 Wheels shown on the Torino were put on this car car for photographic purposes only; they are for another car of mine and thus are NOT a part of this auction. This car will have its original 14 x 7 inch steel wheels with trim rings and corporate hub caps returned to the car prior to its sale and delivery.
