This Champagne Gold 1969 Mach 1 is a premier example of one of the best street/strip Mustangs ever built. It comes with an Elite Marti Report documenting it as the only 1969 Mustang with its particular set of options. the two most important of which put it solidly in the top echelon of all Mustangs: the W-code 4. 30 Drag Pack and the R-code 428/335 HP Super Cobra Jet V-8 packed with NASCAR-grade internals. in this case mated to a heavy duty C-6 automatic for maximum efficiency on the drag strip. The Deluxe Décor interior is standard to the SCJ-optioned Mustang; this car also features chrome styled steel wheels wearing White-lettered Goodyear Polyglas tires. This Champagne 1969 Mach 1 428 cid Ram Air (Shaker) Super Cobra Jet Drag Pak car is documented as correct by both a Marti Report and the Original Dealer Invoice. While it’s odometer mileage of less than 32. 00 miles is believed to be original. this stunning Mach I’s solid no rust body has undergone a recent rotisserie restoration. One thing I know for sure. in any format of judging the classics of motoring. this magnificent 1969 428 Mach I will stand out as a high watermark car. If you are looking for the best of the best. you have found it. This car came out of the legendary Dave’s Garage Collection. It is simply the Best of the Best. The three showroom pictures at the end of the pictures below are from Dave’s Garage. The Body. Paint. Chrome. Interior. Engine Bay and Undercarriage on this Mach I is #1 Condition and very close if not Concour condition. Look at the close-up pictures of the shut-lines and body panel perfection and you will see what I am talking about. Pull out the micrometer. bring over your super magnet if you like. you will find this legendary classic to be the best of the best. If you are anything like me you will get this “gentleman’s” 428 instantly. The striking Champagne Gold is not only a rarity but stunning to look at. especially with those really cool red stripes that let you know. this is no ordinary Mustang. Interesting color combo’s like the one we have here are the rage these days and you won’t go wrong with this understated and rare example of one of the coolest Pony Cars of all time. There’s just no such thing as an early Mach I that isn’t a great car. Fun to drive. with plenty of power. and striking good looks. even 46 years later. and it’s hard to imagine a better hobby car. The strength of the aftermarket suggests that they are some of the most popular cars in history. and when you see a beautifully restored one like this extremely rare ’69 428 Super Cobra Jet with Factory Drag Pack. it’s certainly easy to understand why. This spectacular Champagne Gold (code S5) is simply stunning. having received a rotisserie restoration that covered every aspect of the car. The finished product is handsome and well-executed. with obvious signs of the most highly skilled workmanship throughout. The entire body was a complete rust and damage free original. having lived a simple garaged life with limited weekend duty. Apparently. this little gem spent it’s entire life as a weekend fun car to a retired executive. Champagne Gold looks fabulous when it’s rendered with modern finishes. with an incredible gloss thanks to long hours of wet sanding and buffing. All the chrome and trim is mostly original to the car. it’s just so much nicer than the reproduction aftermarket pieces. Obviously the bumpers were treated to an expensive trip through the chrome shop. but things like the emblems. door handles. and mirrors are all extremely nice and “restored” to perfection. The Shaker Hood. which is one of my favorite features on these Cobra Jets. looks sinister poking through the sheet metal. Every stitch of weather-strip. rubber and felt was altogether replaced with brand new high-quality issue. Lift up that very cool hood and you’ll find the original completely rebuilt 428 CJ 4V “R” Code motor. looking like it just rolled off the assembly line. You cannot find fault with the performance this one delivers. This baby ROCKS. Show-quality chrome applied to the valve covers. and anything that wasn’t painted was given a correct plating job. New throughout. it absolutely runs and sounds as good as it looks. Make sure you check out the engine markings and correct assembly line stickers. just like it rolled out of the factory in late 1968. (Sold on 5-20-69) A full rotisserie restoration means that the bottom of the car is as nicely finished as the top. and nothing was overlooked. The transmission is a the date-coded correct C-6 Cruise-O-Matic. New lines. hoses. and hardware ensure that the braking and fuel systems are in good working order. and there’s a new gas tank out back. Power disc front and correct rear drums live behind a set of appropriate date coded chromed styled steel wheels and hubcaps. with a brand new set of Goodyear Polyglas raised white lettered tires for a period-correct look and feel. The electrical system was completely replaced during the restoration and everything works per factory specs. Inside this blue oval beaut. a correct black interior features freshly re-covered seats and simple stainless accents that blend seamlessly with the car’s awesome exterior panels. Everything from the tight headliner to the fade-free carpet appears restoration-fresh. The dash is loaded with rebuilt and re-chromed gauges. features a correct stereo. and looks good in wood trim that’s as vivid as the day it rolled through the showroom. A correct three spoke Deluxe Steering Wheel has that classic ‘60s thin rim and racing inspired look. Behind the passengers. a completely restored trunk features a correct jack. correct lid decals and a full size spare tire. And. like most first generation Mustangs. this Mach I’s design and detailing is impressive proof that 60s-era Ford definitely employed some of the industry’s best designers. The restoration work is uniformly high quality throughout. and it runs and drives like a brand-new car. Thanks to the potent 428 Super Cobra Jet under the hood. it’s one of the most powerful machines on the street in 1969. Aesthetically. the bottom of this clean Ford has been restored to the same high standards as its striking exterior. interior and pristine engine compartment. There’s simply nothing like keying up a legendary pony car. The sound… the feeling at idle… the relentless surge of torque as you power through gears… And this ’69 Mach is exactly that. while effortlessly capturing everything we love about a no expense sparred restoration to an extremely original car.
