Shelby American was chosen to be the reiteration of “KITT” and took the opportunity to debut the upcoming “KR” model on the show. Because of the stunt driving needs during filming. automatic GT models where chosen and this car was used in all “stock appearing” slides. drift. spins and performance driving on the show. Up fitted with production correct KR components for an accurate appearance of what would soon be available in showrooms. the car was used for a season and a half of filming. Since: After filming ended the car was delivered to us with 600 miles on the odometer. and modification back to a stock interior were made to make the car a more realistic daily driver as filming required all interior ducting and HVAC vents to be removed. The car currently has 1500 miles from being ferried to local and regional car shows. All original components from filming were kept including the center dash “Orb” and other key details that associate the car with the show. The “hood accent” Kitt signature lighting and under body lighting were also removed due to the “non permanent” nature of the wiring for filming and are also included with the sale. Issues: The carbon fiber hood has two cracks in the surface paint only as to the quick nature of preparation for filming and the wheels have some curb rash on the outer lip but these blemishes are non permanent and can be repaired. Other minor paint surface imperfections are noticeable. but anyone familiar with movie and tv show cars will not be surprised by it. A good buff and polish would bring the car back to it’s full luster.
