Description

1955 Thunderbird-This is a project car--Here is what I know about the car-Lets start off by saying it has a really nice frame with no rot or repairs-It is a good project It is a very early production # --its the 339th car off the line in Kansas City--It does run and drive-I pulled it out of its slumber and did some work to it--this is the recent work that was done--Put a new coil on it. cleaned the carb. put in new fuel lines. new gas tank. cleaned out the fuel pump it has new brakes and brake lines--The car runs and drives but still needs more tuning-It does not smoke tick or knock or anything-it actually starts right up. It has not been driven on the road-I know it does move and the transmission is fine--Still runs sluggish though-needs plugs and wires and stuff--But the motor is good-Like I said no noises or smoke-The car is a 2 top car-Has a white soft top-I have not taken off the hardtop to inspect the condition of the soft top-but it looks pretty nice-it has the vinyl cover between the seat and top--The interior on the car is actually pretty nice-There are no rips on the seats or carpet and the dash is very nice-It actually seems like a pretty loaded up car-with the 2 tops. power steering. power brakes. power windows. power seat. factory tach. radio. The tach is in the dash but the needle is missing but you can hear the gear turning for the the tach and you can see the dial spin but the needle is gone-- I know the lights work. as do the brake lights and parking lights. the wipers don't seem to want to work but I think its the switch on the dash-it seems stripped--The power windows and locks aren't working-I have not investigated this-Not sure why-When I hit the window you can hear it wanting to move but the 6V battery is pretty low-So I think I just don't have enough juice to work them-The door panels are also good-they need a little adjusting as the are sticking on the door when you open the door-The doors do not drop and close nice-All glass is good as well-the headliner on the hardtop could use some help-its there but needs work-Under the hood the car is all correct-its the 292 and looks pretty darn factory-see the pics-It is still the original 6V system-It really is a pretty original car-The body is the issue-Its not rusty or anything--It was painted in laquer and it is cracking something fierce-So its spider webbing and checking-its just the paint-not everywhere but in a lot of spots--That darn laquer paint never holds up--So it has some surface rust showing where its cracked-see the pics--the car looks pretty clean but im no T-bird expert but I think it has some fill on the top of the front fenders by the windshield-The fenders and quarters seem nice and metal-So see the pics to check out the paint and body-The chrome bumpers and trim is all very nice-the hubcaps are rusty-Has the original spare tire from 55-The undercarriage is good--the frame on this car is really nice with no patches or rust issues-The X frame is also excellent-See the pics--The front floor pans seem to have had a previous repair-the rear section of the pan is solid but has some surface rust-Its not a bad car at all and would make an excellent project with just paint work and not a lot of body issues-just paint--and mechanically it runs with no strange noises but feels sluggish-it is not smoking and starts right up-And goes right into all gears- So it will be easy to load onto a trailer for shipping-This is a PROJECT-but has a good frame and the body is decent-It needs paint and some tuning--Please feel free to ask any questions you may have-The car is sold as is-and I require a $1000 deposit immediately following the auction and car is to be paid for within 7 days-I can store the car till shipping is arranged-But check with me prior to bidding on the storage-As I would like to set up how long were talking about before you bid--The car is available for viewing--please contact me for an appointment-and don't bother me with ridiculous offers-I always sell my cars with a buy it now or offer-and people seem to think that means you can low ball me-Please bid accordingly-The car will sell!!!!!
