1969 Shelby GT500 Fastback Same original owner from new who purchased 45 years ago!! Finished in rare Acapulco Blue! Completely original interior! Optioned with 4-speed transmission. power steering. and power brakes! What a great find! The Shelby name was well foot printed into the Ford brand by 1969. and his cars had proven to be powerful performers on and off the track. The new 1969 Mustang shape allowed Shelby American designers to really get creative to make their cars really stand out! A new fiberglass hood with three forward facing NACA scoops & two rear facing scoops. special fiberglass front fenders with brake ducts. body side rear brake scoops. and fiberglass deck lid with integrated spoiler gave the Shelby Mustang little resemblance to the factory production examples. It would be the last of the true GT350 and GT500’s to be built directly by Shelby. with 1970 marking the end of this wicked pony car! We couldn’t be more delighted to offer this 1969 Shelby Mustang GT500 Fastback! This example is one of one 58 (per the Marti Report) finished in beautiful Acapulco Blue with Deluxe White Clarion knit high-back bucket seat interior! This largely original example contains a correct 428ci Cobra Jet Ram Air V8 motor. 4-speed close ratio manual transmission. 3. 50 Traction-Lok rear axle. power brakes (front disc). power steering. Sport deck rear seat. updated AM/FM/cassette radio in stock location. visibility group and deluxe seatbelts with warning light! It retains the correct aluminum exhaust collector exiting the rear. body side stripes. Snake emblems inside & out. center console with Stewart Warner gauges. toggle switches for the Lucas fog lamps & interior courtesy lights. dash instrumentation cluster with 8. 00rpm tachometer and trip odometer. 140mph speedometer. and interior roll bar with inertia-reel over-the-shoulder harnesses! The car rides on correct 5-spoke Shelby wheels with aluminum centers wrapped in fresh Goodyear Polyglas GT tires. This car is in the Shelby American World Registry with a good amount of documentation from new. and has a story as follows. The E&L Transport bill of lading (dated February 10. 1969) recognizes that this car is one of eight to have been built and shipped to Ionia. Michigan. From there. it made its way to Johnny Bolton Ford. Inc. in Maitland. Florida where it arrived February 24. 1969. An error in transit led to a repair of the left rear fender. with documentation from A. O. Smith showing a February 11 bill. At the dealership. the car was invoiced on the 28th with a dealer cost of $4. 07. 77 and an MSRP of $5. 07. 80. Three days later. a back-up light was replaced and the car was listed as having 8 miles on the odometer. Unfortunately for this Shelby. the original engine was a lemon and with the same 8 miles. it began to develop a knock and enough of an oil leak to determine a new engine was necessary. This process took a while and was finally completed on August 11th. with the car now showing 15 miles when it sold to the only owner it has had ever since. The counter exchange block has no stamps and we have every reason to believe due to its one-owner lineage that this car has the same motor as was installed in the second part of 1969 under Ford factory warranty. With the exception of one exterior repaint in the original Acapulco Blue color. this very original one-owner Shelby is now showing just 62. 73 miles on the odometer. As such. we are presenting a car that has survived extraordinarily well over its 46 year history. Clearly stored in a heated garage. this Shelby is rust-free and will show normal wear associated with the mileage. as well as age. The original interior is in excellent shape. with just enough carpet fading to give a wonderful sense of patina. The driver’s seat has a bit of cracking on the bolster closest to the door. Of special note. the tilt-away steering column is still fully functional and works in conjunction with the door & ignition as it should. In the trunk is an original style space-saver spare and the motor presentation is absolutely fantastic; almost everything has a gloss or semi-gloss finish. Underneath. the front suspension & steering components appear to have been rebuilt with all new upper & lower control arms. all new sway bar bushings. end links. tie rod ends. ball joints. brake hoses. etc. while the rest of the undercarriage remains very presentable. Anyone with an eye on the muscle car market and a pulse knows that anything with the Shelby name is not only one of the baddest street machines ever produced but also a fantastic opportunity to own a safe investment. This one-owner car and all of its originality are rare in a world of restored to better-than-new muscle cars and it is quite the privilege to drive something that is just as it left the factory.
