Description

1968 Ford Mustang 302 "J' Code NO RESERVE Thanks for checking out my 1968 Ford Mustang 302 “J” Code Coupe. This is a very nice little Mustang. factory J code with nice GT upgrades. I have been into Mustangs since I was a kid. and I love the looks and style of the 1967-68. they are just a perfect looking car in my book. One of my all time favorite cars is the 1968 ½ 428 Cobra Jet Mustang. I have always wanted one. but never had the extra funds to get my hands on one. they run about $60-100K. The lines are perfect on these Mustangs. love the taillights. everything about them. stance is perfect. This car went through a mild restoration and painted back about 15 years ago but not totally completed until about a year ago. It is not a concours restore. but a restoration were it was built correctly with a true Mustang Muscle car look. The car was parked in 1985. and not driven until they decided to do a restoration on it in the mid 1990’s. They wanted it to still have that Mustang classic look. and since the car was ordered originally with the 302 J code engine. which was the true GT small block engine for the Mustang. and Shelby GT350. they decided to go a step further and add GT Trim. and give it a 428 CJ theme. paint scheme of course factory Candy Apple Red. black interior. C stripe and black accents. with hood scoop topped off with GT/CS Shelby Hood Pins. The car is done very tastefully. a true Classic Mustang appearance. very nice upgrades. for a perfect true muscle car look and appeal that we all want. The odometer reads 90. 59 I believe it might be original. I am unsure though. but very possible since the car was basically off the road since 1985 to 2015. It still has its original Blue Oregon License plates on it from 1968. Car was built in San Jose. and sent up here to the Northwest. we have very good cars up here. we have very mild winters. we don’t salt the roads. and cool summers. The car was bought new just 15 miles from were I live. in Albany. Oregon. at Nissen Ford. This is a very nice car. like I mentioned above. the paint was done about 15 years ago. and shows a little age. but overall. it is really good looking. lots of gloss. super smooth down the sides of the car. no orange peal. and nice panel fit. It’s not a rotisserie restored car. but a very nice example of a factory 4v J code Mustang. There are some small bubbles starting at the bottom corner of the drivers door. pretty typical on these Mustangs. The paint looks great outside. in the sun. it is a perfect weekend cruise night car and occasional show and shine. Under lights. it is really hard to photo. the car has some water spots I think on the roof and hood. at least that is what I think it is. I am no detailer. so I think if someone who knows what they were doing. could lightly buff them off. and re-polish the car. To me I wasn’t to worried about it. because I just like to drive it and show it. and no one really notices. On top of the fenders in the valley area on both sides. there is a little crazing in the clear. and a few other spots. they might be able to wet sanded and buffed by a skilled guy or gal. The paint is 15 years old. but with that said. I would never repaint this car. it is very nice. and you will be very proud of it for sure. You will pull in at any show. and when they hear it running. it will put a smile on their face. and yours for sure. This is a very nice body on this car. and super good looking. everyone always comments on how nice it is. There are a few light chips and scratches that have been touched up. but pretty minor. on hood edges. and a few light ones on trunk lid. Overall. you have to be looking for something on this car. a normal guy just looking at it. will think. wow. nice looking car. especially because of the fit and finish on it. It could use a good wax and polish. but it looks great. I like to drive my cars and enjoy them. The bumpers are in nice condition but they are dulling a little. but for a very nice driver they look good. The chrome trim on the car is in nice condition. I consider this car a very nice driver. one that you can drive and enjoy. but it is one that you would want to park way out in the parking lot if you go to the store. The interior is in very nice condition. seats are in excellent shape. The interior was redone in the last few years. like the seats. headliner. door panels. dash pad. Brand new Pony floor mats. dash panels look great. Headliner has no tears in it. very clean. dome light and courtesy lights all work inside. The steering wheel. has a nice leather wrap on the rim. The glass is in nice shape. no cracks. windows roll up and down very nice. The rubber gaskets. around door. and windows were also replaced when they did headliner and interior work as well. Overall the interior is in nice condition. replaced with correct materials for a 1968 Mustang. You will also notice the correct Disc brake pedal pad as well. Notice also that it has correct GT Fog lamp switch as well. All the interior lights work. radio works (but speaker needs replaced). heater works. horn works. wipers. heater. all working currently. It currently has a nice professionally built 302 in it. not sure if it is the original to the car. I believe it might be. but not sure. its been a lot of years since the car was new. When it fires up it will be music to your ears. it sounds really healthy. with a pretty healthy cam in it. Holley 4V carb. original Ford C8ZE intake 4V intake manifold. Engine has Cobra Dress up kit. Monte Carlo bar. Shock Tower Reinforced export brace. long tube headers feed into 2 ½” exhaust with Thrush high flow mufflers. with correct GT dual exhaust tips. The engine has plenty of power. sounds awesome actually. wish you could hear it. The transmission is a Ford C4 Automatic. shifts nicely. and in good shape. It has Disc Brakes upfront. with newer components. new springs. bushings. ball joints. etc. This car has no power robbing power steering but still easy to drive. Wheels are original deluxe. chrome version Styled steel wheels. with GT caps. New BFG Radial T/A’s P215/70/14 all the way around. with only 50 miles on them. This car drives very good. straight down the road. no rattles or squeaks. pretty refreshing ride. This is a car that I would let my wife take out and drive. because I know it will bring her back home with no problems. Very nice running and driving car. Undercarriage is in nice condition. has original floors. frame rails all look to be in good condition. The trunk drop off pans. and inner wheel tubs all looks very good. no rust issues. The engine compartment is in great shape. the Radiator support. and 2 front inner aprons were replaced at some point I believe. they look like they were replaced professionally and look very clean. Overall a very solid car. looks great. something you can enjoy and drive right now. This is a NO RESERVE. starting bid at $19. 63. yes NO RESERVE. top bid gets it.
