Description

This is a very rare 41 Ford one ton express pickup. This is not to be confused with a 1 1/2 ton dual wheeled truck, his is an actual 1 ton pickup. I can not find any production numbers on the one ton. Everything I have read says that they didn't make many to began with, nd many of the ones that were built where used vary hard and scraped years ago. I purchased the pickup from a man whose father purchased it in 1946. They used it until 1953 and parked it at his grandfather's farm where it sat till his grandfather died in 1957. The pickup was moved in 1957 to his father's farm and was parked in the same spot until I bought it earlier this month. It had sat there long enough for a box elder tree,( about 14 in in diameter), o grow between the bumper and the radiator, ie and rot enough that when first looked at the pickup I was able to push the tree over by hand. Amazingly when we moved it all four wheels rolled. Listed below is a picture of the pickup before we moved it. The original keys are in the ignition. The condition of the pickup is pretty beat up, owever the body seams pretty rust free with the exception of the cab corners and the lower part of the drivers door. The floors look pretty solid. At one time or another someone had cut a roughly 2" by 12" hole in the floor right where the floor would meet the back of the cab. There are spots on the fenders where they had cracked and they welded them up. The box was removed shortly after he bought it in 46 and was replaced with a homemade wooden flatbed and is long gone. The frame looks to be in good shape, owever it looks like they welded gussets on the frame right behind the cab to beef it up in the middle. The grill is gone and one headlight chrome. The driver side hood side chrome is in the pickup but is bent. Where the hood latches down is broke off of the drivers side fender, probably from the tree growing through it), ut is still all there. The doors are also both rusted shut from not being open for years. I am sure you can just take them off the hinges. I have the original title from 46 for the pickup, t is sighed by the son as personal rep of the fathers estate. However, ebraska is very strict on title transfers. Since the father has been dead since 1975 they consider his estate to be closed. Even though the son met me at the courthouse with the court appointed docs from 1975 saying he was the estates personal rep they would not issue me a title. They asked him to go to his attorney and have the estate reopened to get new papers. He is not interested in doing this and I don't blame him. If your state laws are different then you may be able to get it titled with this title, therwise you will need a builders title. This is a rare pickup and would be an awesome project. I would about bet you would be the only one on your block to have one!
