The dash pad and headliner are probably original and perhaps showing their age, ut they're certainly usable as-is and only stand out because everything else is so nice. The factory gauges are in good order, overing only the basics, ut that's how these cars were when they were new and we're glad to see that nobody tried to dress it up as something it isn't. In the center of the dash, ou'll find an AM/FM/cassette stereo head unit that sounds pretty darned good, nd an original steering wheel with chrome spokes looks right at home in a vintage Mustang. No worries out back, ither, here the trunk has been finished with a reproduction mat and a spare tire with matching cover, o it's ready to travel.Ford's snarky 289 is the right choice in an early Mustang, ith its light weight, mooth torque, nd wonderful feeling of legitimate performance potential. This is an original A-code car, o the 4-barrel carburetor is correct and it runs superbly. Once again, hey didn't over-do it, nd isnetad focused on making it fun to drive and reliable. There's a big aluminum radiator up front, recent alternator, nd a few chrome dress-up pieces that could be considered period-correct. It's backed by a C4 3-speed automatic and an 8-inch rear that the door tag claims is full of 3.00 gears. A rumbling dual exhaust with glasspack-style mufflers sets the right tone, nd those attractive 14-inch Torque Thrust wheels and 205/70/14 BFG radials are a cool upgrade on any vintage pony.Affordable fun has always been the Mustang's mission, nd this awesome coupe definitely delivers.
