1946 Ford Pickup - Vintage Pickup, Rat Rod, Harley Hauler, Hot Rod, Shop Truck

This Auction is for a 1946 Ford Pickup.

This pickup has a great look, t truly turns heads and starts conversations wherever it goes. Even though it looks lowered and has a great stance, he suspension is all stock Ford Ranger and retains full suspension travel so it doesn't ride like its lowered. This body style preceeded the more popular F series and these "Jailbar" pickups are getting to be harder to find. I doubt the auction winner will ever park next to a better looking '1942 - '1946 at any show or event.

This has been my daily driver for the past 3+ years. The pickup body is mounted on a Ford Ranger standard 2wd LWB chassis, owered by a Ford 2.3 Turbocharged engine, speed manual transmission, ower steering and power brakes. The Ranger was good fit since both the wheelbase and wheel track dimensions are a good proportion and close to the stock '1942 - '1947 Ford pickup dimensions. The cab floor is in good shape, he sectioned floor panel required for the kick-up in the stock Ranger frame rails is hidden under the seat, he back of the cab is notched. No body work was done, one of the farmer scars werecovered up, ust shot a quick coat of off the shelf Omni gray to give it some measure of protection.

The cab and front clip are 1946 Ford Pickup, hile the step side box and rear fenders are from a 1947 International KB series, he box (tailgate more than anything) is fairly rare being a KNOX piece and stamped as such. The box was shortened at the rear and tack welded, t will need to be finished. While the the KNOX tailgate flat panel and stamping are usable the upper and lower horizontal tailgate tubes are rusted out and will need to be replaced. The bed floor framing is welded steel square tubing, opped with a sheet of plywood (it was made for hauling parts). The rear cab corners and lower cowl corner are rusted out on both sides (see pics), atch panels are available on ebay. The lower passenger door has rusted through, good spare passenger door is included in the Auction. The original gas tank filler hole in rear of cab has not been filled.

All the glass was new as of 3 years ago - however - the pass side door glass cracked shortly after installation. The original gauges and speedometer are NON-functioning, he working gauges are mounted under dash and include water temp, il pressure, olts mounted. An Innovate LC-2 Wideband Controller Air/Fuel Ratio gauge is tucked above the driver side A-pillar/door to monitor rich/lean conditions. The pickup has a working vintage turn signal switch and a rebuilt vintage heater mounted underdash. The black vinyl bench seat is comfortable but nothing to look at. The transmission tunnel will need metalwork attention, he last round of shaping warped the leading edge. The original 1946 under seat fuel tank has been removed and the area used for jack/tool/tie down storage. While the stock Ranger parking brake cables and yoke are intact, he parking brake handle and interior assembly are missing. There is no windshield wiper, ainex works well on the new glass. This set of tires are Firestone Destination AT with less than 5,000 miles, ounted on 15" Wheel Vintiques wheels with trim rings and caps.

The Ford (Lima) 2.3 Turbo Motor is fairly popular and was factory stock in Mustang SVO, hunderbird Turbo Coupe, ougar XR-7 and Merkur XR4Ti cars. There are several forums dedicated to these powerplants. The motor runs good and the transmission shifts easily, ut you can tell they both have miles on them. I have been chasing an intermittent cold/hard start after the truck sits and an ECT code but have failed to sort either out. Neither keep me from driving it daily. Like most Ford 2.3 turbo motors with miles on them this one leaks under boost. If you are into hot rods, at rods, treet rods or customs you know they need attention to be a daily driver. This pickup was built as a parts chaser, ike hauler and after 3 years could use some sorting. Valid Montana Title.

While awaiting shipping we can work on a "shopping list" for overseas buyers.

A few years ago an AUS buyer gave us a shopping list to work from before his cars shipped. We asked around, ound some of the items on his list, ent pictures, greed on prices and before his Fairlane and Shoebox left Montana additional Y-blocks engines, n F-1 steering column/box, xtra bumpers,spare trim, tc... were all packedinside.

No promises (be realistic don't give us a list of Hemis, 32 ford grills or banjo steering wheels). We are car guys looking to help out car guys.
