We often wonder how it's possible that some of the vintage pickups have survived so well, ut we already know this 1971 Ford F-100 Sport Custom is too nice to ever be used as everyday tool. Still in the correct shade of black, ts laser straight body, 02 V8, nd upgraded factory air make this an easy decision in the vintage truck world.Body panels fresh out of the press don't look this good, hich tells us there has been some serious time and/or cash in making sure it stays superior after 45 years in the world. But you do expect that out of a Ford F-100 in the upper level Sport Custom package. These carried more trim than some of the Ford cars of the days, nd they looked particularly premium directly from the factory. Today all those pieces are still in place and intact, ncluding the wide grille, hrome bumpers, nd dual trim strips that run the entire length of the pickup. But, here's also no mistaking those upgraded bold Cragar wheels. You see all of this so well because the truck wears its factory-correct shade of Raven Black, ith the same kind of luster that makes this truck as polished as the day it was delivered new to Ford's Atlanta district. The factory stock look continues inside, ut with a few enhancements that you will feel more than you see. For example, he gray cloth bench has the right kind of factory weave, ut you'll enjoy this so much more than a vinyl seat on the first warm day you hop into this F-100. And speaking of warm days, his one also has a new air conditioning compressor and has been upgraded to modern R-134a, o you can feel as cool and comfortable as you want in this vintage pickup. The original dash is nicely preserved, ith everything in place, lus an upgrade to a newer AM/FM cassette stereo. The driver gets the cool-looking original wide horizontal readouts, nd everything works as they should. Because this is the premium end of the F-Series, ord even added a few burled walnut appliques for an interesting touch of sophistication.Just as specified on the VIN, here is the optional 302 cubic inch V8 under the hood. It gave these Fords very respectable power, nd this one gets the job done even better with an upgrade to a four-barrel carburetor. It still looks quite original right down to the correct blue air cleaner and valve covers. More importantly, he motor runs extremely well, elivering a good wallop of low-end torque with a crisp V8 burble from the twin tailpipes out back. There has been a lot of careful maintenance on this motor that ranges from usual pieces like recent plugs and wires, o a larger items like a new dual master cylinder for the power brakes. As you pour over the pictures you can see plenty of proof that this is an exceptionally clean southern truck, nd it has nice driving features like the C4 three-speed automatic, ower steering, nd front disc brakes that make it very driveable. So you know this is an all-around solid choice for a good looking truck you can enjoy with confidence. This is the vintage truck with everything you want inside and out, hich is why the affordable price is so surprising. The only problem is you're not the only one attracted to this pickup, o you might want to hurry up and call today as these dont last...especially in black!!
