Description

Up for consideration is an extremely nice 1971 F100 Ranger XLT. It was originially dark green with green interior. although I repainted it in an updated Ford Estate Green metallic basecoat/clearcoat. The body is in excellent condition. had no floor pan rust at all. The passenger side inner fender panel was replaced due to a family of mice that moved in while the truck was parked. The battery tray is completely solid. The bed is in excellent shape. with clean seams and a solid floor. I had inteded to keep this truck for myself. but moving forces me to sell. The bed has been Rhinocoated. The carpet and dash are original and the dash is crack-free. The seat has been reupholstered similar to the factory style. The cloth and vinyl door panels are original. The fuel tank was drained. etched and Red-Koted. The heater works great. I installed a Pioneer CD player but did not cut the dash to do so. A factory radio will still mount right in. The engine is original and runs very well. It holds great oil pressure and does not smoke or knock. The cylinder heads have been redone and the original two barrel carb has been rebuilt. The factory jack and folding handle are in the driver fender panel still. Here's the list of new parts. Tires. brake shoes. wheel cylinders. brake hoses. master cylinder for the brakes. full tune up. distributor. ignition coil. battery. front shocks. headlamps. heater control valve. all coolant and heater hoses. belt. fuel pump. water pump. windshield. window weatherstripping and door weatherstrips. horn relay. starter solenoid. seat upholstery. steering column and shifter setup have been rebuilt with new bearings and thrust washers. washer pump for windshield wipers. all new stainless hardware on the original western style mirrors. and a new glove box liner was installed. The trim on the truck is original and not perfect but shows well. The bumpers are also original as is the grille shell and inserts. This truck has the flex-o-matic rear suspension that was a factory option and also has an unusual dual front shock setup. I have not seen this setup on another 2wd f100 nor can I find information about it from any Ford literature. although it appears factory. This truck runs and drives great and is very solid on the road. All gauges. lights. electrical etc. work just like they should. including the horn and the cargo lamp. The only lights that do not operate is the backup lights due to a bad switch. I installed a Reese hitch on this truck to tow a small landscape trailer although I'm sure the truck can handle towing more than that. It is a class 4 hitch. I have not installed a wiring harness to hook up trailer lighting as I was going to manufacture an entire rear harness instead of splicing into the original. I would not hesitate to drive this truck anywhere and it receives lots of compliments even when filling up at a gas station. The body is straight and all panels line up beautifully. The doors open and close tightly just as they should. This truck would make a great daily driver or something to show off at your local car show. She has a slight exhaust leak at the donut between the manifold and head pipe on the driver side. i believe it didnt seat into place correctly but have not had the time to look into it. The reverse light switch needs to be replaced. This truck came from Georgia and was sold with bill of sale only but a North Carolina title in my name is on its way. I followed NC procedure for inspection through the state license and theft bureau and they approved the issuance of a clear title and I am expecting it any day now. The truck is registered and insured and I drive it almost every day. This is not a rebuilt truck. all the body with the exception of the inner fender panel are original to the truck. Ranger XLTs are becoming scarce. especially very solid turn-key trucks.
