You are looking at a VERY RAREORIGINALFactory N-code429-4V Thunder Jet1970 Ford TorinoCobraoptioned with a C-6 Automatic Transmission, ower Steering, ower Disc Brakes, and a Factory Tachometer!! This caris a Barn/Garage Find that has been off the road and indoor stored for the better part of 30 years. I hesitate to use the word 'survivor' as it seems to be an over used term in the old car hobby, this car has undergone many changes I am not sure it really fits, utthis car has 'survived' through all ofit's early street racingdays and then onto it's day to day usage throughout the 70's and early 80's!! This car has most of it's ORIGINAL (albeit tired) paint still on it. While this car could certainly benefit from a cosmetic restoration, t is a very solidcar to start with. This car is a REAL Torino Cobra with it's Cobra only 0A38N VIN in a GREAT color combination withadesirable option list.
This is an ORIGINAL N-code 1970 Ford TorinoCobrathatspent it's early life just north of Indianapolis hailing from the City of Anderson,Indianaoriginally. This carwas street raced for a time as evidenced by the High BeamDelete Cold Air Intake and the Trunk Mounted Battery tray. My guess is that this car spent some time on Chicago's South Side engaging insome Late Night Street Fights!! I have left these items intact as a tribute to this car's Street Fighting past!! After the car was retired from it's Street Racing days it was used as a Daily Driver of sorts and thenit was put away and barn/garage kept. It wastucked safely away sparing itfrom the elements; which is what has kept this car as solid as it is.This car was clearly a driver for a number of years before beingput away andthe plans for a somedayrestorationplaced on it.Well the restoration got sidetracked as life happened and other matters became a priority. The TorinoCobra ended up being parked, sed a storage shelf, oved from barn to garage to garage with each family relocation for nearly 3 decades still thinking of it as a future someday project.
This car was aStock Order at Fairway Ford Sales in Anderson, ndiana and ordered in theIndianapolis 46 DSOwiththe T-code MediumRed Hue Top Coat witha Black Broadcloth/Vinyl Bench Seat Interior.
ThisCobra was furtherspec'd outwith theStandard Cobra mill; theN-code 429-4V 360HP Thunder JetEngine,C6 Automatic Transmission, nd a 9 inch 3.00 geared conventional rear end!
This '70TorinoCobra waswell equipped and per the Deluxe Marti Report originally ordered as follows:
429-4V 360hp V-8 Engine C6Automatic Transmission3.00geared 9 inch Conventional RearRed Exterior PaintBlack Broadcloth/VinylBench Seat InteriorF70-14 Wide Oval Belted Raised White Letter TiresPower SteeringPower Disc BrakesTachometerAMRadioDual Rear Seat SpeakersDual Color Keyed Racing MirrorsBody Side MoldingsSports Wheel Covers
The N-code 429-4V Thunder Jet Engine Starts on the 1st turn of the key and has an authoritative rumble to it. It idles nicely and is very responsive. The engine is bone stock right down to it's original Intake and Exhaust manifolds complete with heat shield, ngine lift hooks, ir Cleaner andAutolite Carburetor. It runs incredibly well with plenty of get up and go to move this Cobra down the block at speed!!!
Here arelinks to a couple of video's of the Cobra Running.

The C6 Transmission drops rightinto gear as it should and shifts through the gearswith no issue.
The bullet proof9 inchbrings up the rear andis smooth and quiet.
There are many new parts that have been replaced/installed on the Cobra to get it back on the road and have it be a reliable and safe driver once again.
To include the following:New CarpetNew Dash CoverNew ExhaustNew Fuel TankNew RadiatorNew Radiator HosesNew Heater HosesNew Fan ClutchNew Power Steering BeltNew Alternator BeltNew BatteryNew Battery TrayNew Battery CablesNew StarterNew SolenoidNew Voltage RegulatorNew AlternatorNew Power Brake BoosterNew Master CylinderNew Front Brake CalipersNew Front Brake PadsNew Rear Wheel CylindersNew Rear Brake ShoesNew Brake HosesNew 15x7 Magnum 500 WheelsNew Lug NutsNew Ford Crest Wheel Center CapsNew 265-50-15 Raised White Letter Radials
Thecar has most of it's ORIGINAL MediumRed paint still on it and while weathered it carries a great patina to it that garners compliments everywhere I go with it. It hassome rust in the1/4's and a bit in the lower outer wheel house (see pics) and some underneath the trunk lid on the lip (see pic) and that really is the worst of it. There may be a smallisolated spot here and there but for the most part this is a very solid car with ORIGINAL paint on it so there will be NO SURPRISES in the body integrity with this car.
The Body on theTorino whilecertainly not perfectis actuallyvery solid and it'slong term storage to keep it from the harshest of elements show in this car's condition. The Hood,Fenders, oors, and passenger 1/4 are allvery decent on the car.The Floors have a couple of small spots but they are very minor and for the most part are very nice still wearing the ORIGINAL Red paint on them. The Cowl,Frame Rails, ockers, tc. are also very solidon this car.The front battery apron has had a piece sectioned in so we could mount the new tray. The rear package shelf has been trimmed/modified I am assuming for some speakers at some point in its past. There is a small rustspot underneath the car by the torque box (see pic)and someminor rust both of the trunk drops behind 1/4 panels (see pics), ut it really is nothing compared to most of what you see here in the East or up in the Rust Belt. The Cowl is nice on this car as are the floor pans (see pics) and while certainly not a perfect car, t is a Super Solid car to work with.
Thisis a REAL DEAL Cobra witha very solid chassis and good bones to work with. The rust repair that does need to be done is minimal and pretty straight forward. The fact that the carhas been garage kept all these yearshashelped to preserve theintegrity of this car sothis Cobracould live to fight another day.
TheBlack Vinyl Bench Seat Interior is pretty much all there and in very good driver condition. IT is not perfect; but very serviceable and easily restorable. The car has it's original2 spokeSteering wheel in it. The dash pad has a new cover on it and NEW carpet inside.
The carwas originally equipped with 14 inch steel wheels with Sport Wheel Covers;however it now rollson a NEW set of15x7 Magnum 500 Wheels with brand NEW 265-50-15 Raised White Letter Radials.
Please be realistic in your expectations of this car as a 46+ year oldMusclecar that has been around the block a few times and has engaged in more than its share of Street Fights!!
A lot of time and expense has gone into bringing this car back to life from it's long hiatus from the street; but it has been well worth the effort. To see one of these Musclecar's put back on the roadand have this modern day Dinosaurroam the streets once more is quite a sight and one that is not often seen today!
Overall this is a very decent original 1970TorinoCobra witha GREAT running429-4V 360HP Thunder Jetengine that is a solid driver!! While this car would certainly benefit from a simple cosmetic restoration, t actually has a 'Cool' factor to it with the Patina'd paintwith the bumps and bruises it has enduredin the nearly 1/2 century since it rolled off the Atlanta Assembly linein August of 1969!!This car has a cleanGa. title and is currentlyregistered and insured in my name. If you have been looking for a Super Solid Big Block TorinoCobra to restore or to just todrivethen don't hesitate on this one; as is it may be some time before another suitable DRIVERsuch as this comes along again!
