1940 FORD TWO DOOR SEDAN4 OWNER CAR SINCE NEW ALL LOCAL TO WHERE I LIVE!V8 ENGINE54,008 MILESTOTALLY UNMOLESTED!ORIGINAL CAR!
This car was sold new to Mr. J.D. Clodfelter in Tro, orth Carolina in 1940. He purchased it from the local Ford dealer here in Montgomery County, orth Carolina. An 87 year old employee of my father's, emembers going to see Mr. Clodfelters new car when when he was a young man just after he bought it! It has had 3 owners since then and all were here in Montgomery County. This is a totally unmolested original car. My father purchased the car several years ago and drove it to where it has been sitting in an insulated airplane hangar at the local airport. I got the car out from the rear of the hangar and washed the dust off. It currently does not run but would probably take very little to make it run. My father was the mechanic and he is now almost 90 years old. I don't know anything about the mechanics of this car. The seats have a cover on them which is torn up due to age. The seats which appear to be original mohair are in fair condition under those plaid covers. The headliner looks pretty good as well. If you are looking for an original 1940 Ford I don't think that you will find a better one to restore. It seems that most of these cars have been turned into hot rods. Once that happens theoriginalityis gone forever.
