If you're a fan of the unusual, hen this cool 1968 Ford Mustang GT should really grab your attention. First and foremost, t's a real-deal S-code 390 car, hich is a fantastic find all by itself. Then you add in the awesome color combination, he ultra-rare bench seat option, nd factory A/C, nd you get a car that's going to make the numbers guys scratch their heads at every show. You're going to stop and admire any Mustang fastback, ut painted in code A Raven Black and detailed with a red C-stripe, his one is especially appealing. The restoration is perhaps 25 years old, o it's not perfect and fresh, ut when it comes to Mustangs, bit of character is always welcome. That's not to say that it's not clean, ecause someone obviously spent a ton of cash on that restoration, ecause the car still shows quite well. The gaps are good, he sheetmetal is very straight, nd in black, his car leaves no place for lousy workmanship to hide. There are a few blems in the paint, hich you'd expect from a car that's built to drive, ut once folks spot those GT emblems and hear the bark of the 390, ll that little stuff is quickly forgotten. It does have all the correct GT details, oo, ncluding the grille-mounted fog lamps, orrect gas cap, nd twin pipes poking out from underneath. Along the way, t also received a set of flashy red pinstripes that highlight the fender line, n addition that's very welcome on this attractive fastback. The code 9D red interior might look a little unusual thanks to the factory bench seat, f which only 286 were built in 1968. Red upholstery is the perfect choice with black paint, nd this car nails the upscale look that many buyers wanted in 1968. The fold-down armrest makes it comfortable for long cruises, nd the deluxe steering wheel is perched atop a telescopic steering column, nother relatively rare, uxury-oriented option. The gauges are in in good shape and remain fully functional, lthough the factory-issued AM/FM radio sadly is not. Carpets, oor panels, nd the fold-down rear seat are all in excellent condition and the A/C is complete and functional but may need a charge. The trunk is fitted with a correct mat and spare tire cover, aking for a very clean presentation. The S-code 390 cubic inch V8 is the reason the Mustang was redesigned in 1967, nd it's a neat fit here. With chrome valve covers and an open-element air cleaner, t has a showy look and the Ford Blue paint gives it a factory look. The A/C compressor dominates the top of the engine bay, ut there's no mistaking the look of that big block crouching between the shock towers. It runs superbly thanks to a brand new Holley 4-barrel carburetor, istributor, oil, and a tune up, nd it's been properly maintained over the years, o things like the fuel pump, aster cylinder, eater core, nd other parts are recent. The C6 3-speed automatic transmission was serviced just 200 miles ago and the brakes were rebuilt, ncluding the lines. A new gas tank hangs out back and there are 3.25 gears in the rear axle, aking this a fantastic highway cruiser. You also get power steering and power brakes, ll tucked inside handsome GT-spec styled steel wheels and 215/70/14 blackwall radials.Highly desirable, ery well optioned, nd ready to enjoy, his is a blue-chip Mustang that will delight any Ford fan. And at this price, t's not likely to last very long, o call today!
