Description

While we most often see 1965 Mustangs in bright Poppy Red and Wimbledon White, his one dressed in subtle Phoenician Yellow looks incredible. Combined with black convertible top and a peppy 289 under the hood, t's a great runner as well. There aren't many cars out there that generate the same universally warm feelings that an early Mustang does-EVERYONE loves them. The paint and bodywork are in good condition, estored in the original code 7 Phoenician Yellow. As it sits, t is a very handsome cruiser with straight flanks that aren't hiding any dirty secrets. The sheetmetal is clean, here are no questionable areas, nd the prep on the body was very good before the paint was applied. All the great Mustang detailing remains, oo, rom the iconic grille with the Mustang "corral" in the center, o the brightly polished rocker panel moldings, o the cool faux vents in the rear quarters. You'll note the '289' badges on the front fenders, hich are legit because this is a correct C-code car, nd the bumpers shine like they were just plated last week. This is just a flat-out awesome looking Mustang. This lovely pony also features a black Pony interior, hich included embossed seatbacks with, f course, ore horses, nd it's a highly desirable option. The seats themselves are supportive and firm, hanks to new foam underneath, nd they show almost no wear or sun damage despite living in a convertible. Those might be the original carpets, owever, nd they show some fading but it's heartening to see such originality. Simple gauges are easily visible through the stylish 3-spoke steering wheel with its fashionable 1960s skinny rim, nd the original AM radio still lives in the dash, ight above an accessory A/C unit. Overhead, recent black vinyl convertible top has been installed and includes a matching black boot when it's down. The trunk is also correctly finished, ncluding a complete reproduction mat kit still in its original package. V8 power in a Mustang is a great way to travel, nd this one features a C-code 289 topped by a 2-barrel carburetor. With 200 horsepower and plenty of torque, t moves the lightweight Mustang easily and makes all the right sounds while doing it. Wearing a coat of Ford Blue paint, he engine looks like it was restored some years ago and has been well maintained ever since. It's not show detailed, ut it is honest and clean, ith no outrageous modifications or questionable additions. Key it up and it fires easily, nd pulls cleanly through the gears in the 3-speed manual gearbox behind it. Out back there's a rugged 9-inch rear end with very highway-friendly 2.80 gears that make this an easy cruiser. Underneath it's incredibly solid, ith all the original convertible chassis reinforcements still in place. It features a single exhaust system as original that has a muted V8 rumble that fits this car's personality. Drum brakes at all four corners work well, nd those wonderful styled steel wheels I mentioned earlier wear modern 195/75/14 whitewall radials. Great running and driving Mustangs that haven't been modified or are full of rust are getting harder to find all the time. This one isn't a show-winner, ut it doesn't cost $50,000 either, nd the color combination is simply spectacular. Call today!
