What we have here is a 1940 Ford Deluxe Coupe with a standard grill and hood, I like the look better ). This is one of the last 40's to come out of Larry Laprade's Old Country Cars in Georgia, arry passed before I could pick up the car, is son Luke and I were able to do the deal. Luke thought I was crazy when I asked to do the fenders black, ut in the end he liked it. Once the car was back up in Mass. we started the traditional hotrod build, he flat motor came out and with the help of Lee Osborne the 292 Y block went in without cutting the firewall. Found a nice S-10 5 speed transmission, ecalibrated the speedo and she runs down the road at 70 MPH at 2500 RPM. She still has the banjo rear and drum brakes all the way around. The stance comes from a 4" forged dropped axle, 95 fronts and 235 rear tires, wishbone was not split and a couple of springs removed from the rear to lower and soften up the ride. new aluminum radiator and new steel gas tank installedGeorgia body was nice, ne small repair in the floor and tool tray area. paint on the body is not perfect, as some checking and flaking near the antenna. But still looks good ?? Eye of the beholder ??Car has a painless harness, riginal style column, ith on/off switch and push button starter. heater and defroster works great. All lights and turn signals work great. The Y block was rebuilt, eads were cleaned up, sky cam. with 3 new Strombergs, uns of the center carb till half throttle the the outers kick in. Rams horn exhaust manifold and aMallory distributor. I know I forgot something, ut if your looking for a cool old hotrod that when you pop the hood most people have know idea what it is, ove that. And sounds great, heck this car out. Thanks for looking !! No trades, ound a house down south and need some extra $$$$
