BODYWORK/TRIM
Assembled from the ground up to be a SEMA show-stopper, his coupe's solid fuselage began life as high quality Minotti fiberglass that was smoothed, illed and chopped by Joe Stuben and Nashville, ennessee's Greening Auto Company. Once sinuous and ready to roll, hat resin was coated in glossy Burgundy 2-stage that lends the car a timeless, ophisticated presence. And in May of 2012, his Ford rolled right out of the shop and straight to Classic Auto Appraiser on its way to being valued at $285K.
The beauty of a well-done custom is often found in the simplicity of its execution. In a nod to the hobby's old school hot rodding roots, he best cars are usually topped with a stripped down, ll-business body that emphasizes their purpose-built, igh performance nature. So, hen you craft a first class offering like this sweet '37 Ford, he best thing to do is simply enhance what's already there. Our enhancements begin with flowing fiberglass fenders, hich center a custom Alumicraft grille between modern Porsche headlights that are finished with CNC-cut surrounds. Behind that grille, smoothed and dropped hood anchors a custom curved and raked windshield in front of a tinted greenhouse that's capped by a 4-inch chopped roof. Below that glass, moothed running boards frame shaved suicide doors that are actuated by small solenoids. Behind those boards, shaved decklid reflects a monochromatic Ford emblem and classy LED taillights. And that buttery profile is highlighted by roughly $11K of plating and polishing work that includes small mirrors, tainless profile lines and traditional tail lamp bezels.
ENGINE
In the auto enthusiast world, here are few bigger faux pas than something that promises performance but doesn't deliver. "It looks fast" just doesn't cut it with real car guys, o the old school flathead that might traditionally power this coupe has officially been swapped for 6.1 liters of Chrysler's third generation Hemi. Utilizing aluminum construction, ariable cam timing and increased-flow heads, he balanced and blueprinted mill, ourced from Street & Performance, s conservatively rated at 425 horsepower. At the center of the car's smoothed and filled firewall, polished intake looks excellent between polished valve covers and smooth, urgundy coil covers. A conical air filter combines with a Street & Performance throttle body to feed factory-spec internals. There's a custom, olor-keyed radiator that rides between an efficient puller fan and a polished expansion tank. Custom wiring combines with trick dipsticks, small K&N breather, edhorse Performance hoses and a polished alternator to add both form and function. And with one twist of the key, he engine zings to life, ulsing rhythmic notes through ceramic-coated headers.
DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION
This Ford's polished profile and proven powerplant roll on a body-matched TCI Stage III chassis that's been assembled to exacting standards. The big-bore Hemi torques a tough Chrysler 45RFE multi-speed automatic, hich spins a Ford 9-inch axle that's cased in a polished Currie carrier. That custom drivetrain pushes a polished 4-link suspension that's fitted with Ridetech coil-over-shocks. Opposite that 4-link, polished independent front-clip employs 2-inch drop spindles and two more Ridetech coli-overs. Turns come courtesy of a stainless steering linkage, hich swerves a power-assisted rack-and-pinion set-up. Quick stops are a cinch thanks to four polished calipers and big drilled and slotted rotors. At the center of the floor, oated exhaust pipes breathe through coated Magnaflow mufflers while a Street & Performance fuel pump drains an 18-gallon fuel tank. At the corners of the chassis, ilver-detailed blades turn 215/40ZR18 Sumitomo HTR Z IIIs in front of 275/40R20 Continental SportContacts. And everything, rom the car's polished oil pan and high-torque mini starter to its braided brake lines and finned transmission coolers, s well-planned, ell executed and ready to roll!
INTERIOR
Pop this classic's lightweight doors and you'll find a clean leather interior that was professionally installed by Krist Kustoms of Fort Wayne, ndiana. At ground level, ool carpet floats color-keyed floor mats beneath polished, ord-branded foot pedals. In the middle of that rug, ord-branded thrones feature full power adjustment for both the driver and passenger. Between those seats, n integrated roof console centers a small mirror and MP3-compatible Alpine audio above a custom floor console that frames a stylish shifter. At the front of those bins, luxurious dash hangs a full array of Classic Instruments telemetry above knobs for Vintage Air climate control. At the sides of that dash, ustom door panels front modern power windows with big speakers, olished handles and contoured armrests. In front of the driver, polished and painted steering wheel laps a tilting Ididit column. And behind the cockpit, surprisingly large trunk founds a small fuel filler in clean wool carpet, right stainless accents and supple leather trim.
