Description

Up for auction is a nice example of a period aftermarket wood body on a 1926 Model T car chassis and running gear. The body was crafted by a custom cabinet maker who collects/restores/ fabricates wood truck bodies. It is an exact replica of a body available in the twenties. It is constructed of hard maple and stained with Min Wax Colonial Maple. The attention to detail is extraordinary. The truck is outfitted with a standard Ford head and Champion X plugs, Stipe 250 camshaft, straight through style NH carburetor restored by Russ Potter, high volume intake manifold, oils restored by Ron Patterson, Watts clutch, Ruckstell two speed rear axel with standard ring and pinion gears, modern core radiator made for a Model T and five 1926-27 wire wheels. The fifth wheel is a spare mounted under the bed. It also comes with a restored 1926 California license plate. The truck runs very well.
The vehicle is crank start only but I installed a new ring gear on the flywheel and a working ammeter on the dash if someone wants to install a starter and generator . The transmission cover and generator bracket have block off plates, s installed at the factory on crank start vehicles. The bed hardware and latching irons are mostly original. The chains and eye bolts are new. There are some water spots in the bed that do not detract from the appearance. The windshield is made of safety glass. The top section folds forward and is held in place by two chrome plated swing arms. The restored Climax water pump, hile not necessary, rovides continuous and uniform circulation. The horn operates off the magneto; the headlights and taillight off the battery. Every feature of the truck has been restored to a high standard. The engine was professionally rebuilt by David Daigh of Durham California. I personally restored the front end, ransmission, agneto, riveshaft/rear axle assembly and all other components. The car comes as you see it, ithout fenders, ood or running boards, lthough a buggy step and handle were installed to assist in entering the cab. Included in the auction are two excellent front fenders, radiator shroud, nd TT style running boards and brackets.
As with most period pickup bodies installed on a car chassis, he cab area is narrow and not recommended for someone with long legs. The truck is a good runner and very dependable. It starts on the second or third crank and runs equally well on battery or magneto. I am selling it reluctantly because I can no longer afford storage and my primary interest lies in brass era cars. The car will come with a notarized bill of sale. A nonrefundable deposit of $250 is required within 48 hours of the sale or the truck will be relisted or offered to the next highest bidder at my discretion. The remainder is due before delivery. Pay Pal is fine for the deposit, ut the remainder must be paid by a bank check or wire transfer. Shipping is the buyer's responsibility but I will help loading from my end. I will be happy to haul the car in an enclosed trailer within 500 miles of Sacramento for the cost of gas round trip and overnight lodging. I will consider hauling to points west of the Rockies for $1.00 per mile. Feel free to ask questions or come by and inspect the truck. I live in Folsom, ear Sacramento.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or suggestions. The reserve is quite reasonable but will not be disclosed.
